In general, a new thread is created each year. Using the 'subscribe' feature will help to keep you informed when there is new activity in the thread. For ongoing events (monthly), as is this and the Dallas DO thread, it is easier to keep it in one place. Current information is easily accessed in the first post of the thread. IMO, creating a new thread for each monthly event would cause confusion, especially for those of us used to the current format

Ahhh well, perhaps next time. I will likely head straight home after the interview. Oh the joys of rush hour traffic on the Washington Beltway!

OK, we will be there Friday night. We need to meet the new Lady Oz, as well as earn our last 5,000 final miles to top off 1k for 2007.

Koko, geo1004? Despite my long-term, very happily married status, I still enjoy seeing some gorgeous single young men wandering around.

It is in Ashburn, about 10 mins from IAD. Thoughts?
Will - never assume where I've been (or not been) for these DC dinners.

As El Boocho recalls above, we did have one dinner here a couple years back. I distinctly remember those neat little "samplers" of beer of all kinds on a little circular spindle, which I really thought were great, and were very well priced. There was a honey infused one, and a spicy one, and a real dark one, and a wheat one etc.

However El Boocho also mentions above he recalled they closed pretty early? After several beer sampler "paddles" I would not recall that detail, (or many others ) but possibly someone might be able to check on that? Maybe we were not there on a Friday back then?

It was a neat place. ^

OK, we look set for a fun night in the Reston area on our way back from a week driving about leaf-peeping in Maine.

For Friday Nov 10 we eneded up with a fun table of Flyertalkers - especially seeing so many DC regulars are flying to the London FT Doo that weekend!:

Definites at The Dinner: (17)

ozstamps and MargoOz
chrisw and Windwalker
El Boocho (and La Boocha!)
bhatnasx
Suzy1K

Punki and Hunki
Global_Hi_Flyer
MileageAddict and Mrs Mileage Addict
lawchild
idealflyer
pranu
Sigh

The "almost made it" list!

I'll keep this milepost 515 updated with attendee names at pranu's sensible suggestion.

VENUE AND TIME:

Clyde's At Reston Center - Friday November 10. 2006 - around 8pm.

About 8pm. Sounds like we have a contact there with a Manager, who will guarantee us a large table on a Friday night. ^

On the radar...

Thanks to Glen, I had a nice little email reminder about the DC Happy HOurs/Dinners... and to the fact that the lovely Punki and her handsome dance partner Hunki will be here in DC! Thanks!

I've got the date on my calendar but for now it will have to be in pencil. That weekend MAY find me in Williamsburg visiting my parents (since I'll be spending Thanksgiving elsewhere, a November visit is essential to maintain good diplomatic relations...).

Fingers crossed... stay tuned!

I think it was mid-week. They close at 9 on week nights which put last call around 8:30-8:45. I think I showed up kind of late and as such it seemed super early to me. I see that they are open until 10 on Fridays. I don't know the area beyond Tysons Corner very well, so I'll refrain from making suggestions. With half the attendees visiting from thousands of miles away, I'll try to convince La Boocha to come out that night.

Firstly Oz, GA, Tazi thanks for saving me the effort of having to respond . I am lazy that way!

But Nicholas does have a point in that - one might want to be able to follow the discussion about a specific event - and not necessarily
1. Just be able to see the summary as in post number 1.
or
2. Have to wade through the pages of post to find the start of the discussion of the event the person is interested in.

Not everyone would follow all the posts in the thread - and as a high flyer once posted "The DC flyertalkers are ... the most friendly bunch in the USA" we are quite accomodating - so here is a solution - I will along with the event - post a link to the post that started discussing the event.

Such as in this case it would be - this link.

Everyone's happy

PS - Oz thanks for having probably me be the only one whose handle you spelled correctly

Oz - Would you please get with the program and maintain one list for attendees - rather than continuously adding a new one - How am I supposed to link to it ?!?!?!?

Hotel Search Help

Can someone help me with a good hotel search website. I was on a site that searched all the travel websites at once, but I can't remember what it was. Please help.

Newly arrived in DC (from JNU!) and may be able to make it on the 10th, depending on my arrival time from training in CAE.

How about kokopuff and MileageAddict?

Meet your moderators!

I'm probably going to start a new thread later on down the road, but I just wanted to post a note in here for the regular DC Area Happy Hour folks.

On November 4th, the Moderators are going to be getting together in the DC area for a meeting. After the all-day meeting, we will be having a dinner somewhere in DC (not sure where as yet - but it'll be somewhere metro accessible, more than likely in DC itself). After dinner, I'm sure a group of the mods, whom like most FT'ers, like to drink, will be going out for drinks somewhere in DC (again, not sure where).

Once I figure it all out, I'll either start a new thread or post back in this thread, but I wanted to give everyone a heads up if they're interested in meeting up. Randy will be in town as well - though I'm not sure if he'll be spending the night drinking or not!

Aww, so sweet of you to think of me!

Perhaps I can be there - not sure if I will be in town that weekend, but I have been meaning to attend an FT event for a while! Put me down as a possibility.

As far as location I seem to recall a decent pub in the historic district of Herndon (no that's not an oxymoron, believe it or not) but I haven't worked in that area in several years so I don't know if it's still there. I could certainly look into it if we are still in need of a venue.
