Alright folks - nice to have all this activity happening here.
So I am going to post 11/10 as a tentative on our list.
Tazi, Global_Hi_Flyer - Is Monday hapening? Should I put that up on the front page? Let me know. (I can't make Monday)

Margaret and I enjoyed meeting so many folks in June, and if anyone is about November 10 would be pleased to catch up for a drink and a meal.
We are flying over on November 1 to Portland Maine to drive up into Canada and do some leaf peeping on the loop.
We can fly back to SYD from PWM via IAD Nov 11 on a good connection, or give ourselves a Dulles hotel overnight Friday Nov 10th and then take the SYD flight next day, and squeeze in the air museum during that day.
Around Reston/Dulles would suit best I am sure, but flight from PWM gets into IAD at 4pm Fri, so have time up our sleeves and hopefully might bum a ride downtown or elsewhere if that suits others better location wise.
I need to finalise ticketing and dates in a couple days, so any input as to whether that Friday works for any others would be greatly appreciated.

chrisw says he is about that night, Friday November 10 - anyone else? I'll need to book tickets in next couple of days.

I think we're around on that Friday so we could meet up. Have to catch Oz when he comes through!

I should be around on the 11/10. VA fine for me as long as it is a little later in the evening, i.e. 7 or later. Otherwise, I'll just show up late.

OK so Nov. 10 is now officially a tentative event with enough folks around.
Sucks that quite a few of you will be MIA thanks to your defection across the pond..
But I guess that just means more glassware for the rest of us - as long as Oz manages to swing some other funky deal this time! Oz - you better not disappoint!

Hey no idea how to swing freebie pint glasses out at Reston, but I'll think of something.

OK .. seems like we have 6 starters so far - any other locals about that are not London bound that weekend? :
ozstamps and Margaret
chrisw
Will and Lisa Lindner
El Boocho (yep 7pm or later sounds perfect for us too!

Have we ever done the Old Dominion Brewing Co. Pub? I seem to remember it was done once but we weren't there, and I'm sure OZ wasn't.
http://www.olddominion.com/pg/olddominionpub
It is in Ashburn, about 10 mins from IAD. Thoughts?

Currently, I'm around on the 10th, so unless some work travel comes up (which at this time, it's quite possible), I'll try to be there.

Can we create a new thread for each gathering, as they do in every other city? Sometimes, if I haven't read it in a while, it takes me forever to figure out where and when the next do is. Or is someone trying to break the record for the longest thread?

So there does not seem any danger whatever of this being the longest USA get-together thread. Nor I imagine was there ever any intention that it be.

What works in Texas .........

This thread is for the 2006 doos and is headed clearly that way. Seems to have worked well, and is a neat tidy way to collate them in one place. IMHO.
pranu keeps an efficient and up to date summary in post #1 of where each coming month's gatherings are suggested, and that seems (to me) to be an efficient and easy to follow system?
As did his predecessors who co-ordinated these monthly dinners like MDTony, VaijoJovern and bhatsnasx etc, who quickly come to mind.
The DC Monthly Doos are easily the longest running regular gatherings on FT. I've been to dozens now, and I imagine are the envy of many other far larger cities that they occur so regularly - and are so well patronised.
The DC flyertalkers are as I have often posted, the most friendly bunch in the USA, and the long established annual thread system seems to work just fine for most folks.

Nicholas - as Oz posted, there is always a summary of "current events" in the very first post of the thread. There are separate threads created for "special" events, either a weekend Do, someone coming to town or an event outside the beltway in VA (my favorite
). The single thread approaches works best for most folks, especially those that use the My Flyertalk function as they have subscribed to the thread and will be notified when posts are occurring and new events are planned. Hope to see you at an event sometime soon - in DC or VA.
