Had a great time last week. Count me in for the 12th!

I can't make it on 12/12 either - y'all have fun at Abacus!

Well I cannot make the December one. This last one was a blast. Now put me as a maybe for January. All depends on if the office finally has a home for me.

We had a great time at the last one and are sorry we won't be able to make the Abacus dinner or brunch. Hopefully we can attend the one in January.

I meant to thank Craig for setting up the last one and sorry we had to split so quickly after dinner...we didn't know it would be as long as it was and my wife had to be up at 5am for work the next morning.

P.S. We also need to pencil in some cornhole for a future get together! (anyone who was there knows what that means...and if you weren't you can probably do an internet search for it and find out).

Paging BenjaminNYC

Hey BJ, what's the latest count? I need to call my contact and get the reservation nailed down - and depending on where we are, we may need to cap now (or give a slightly higher count and cap with a couple more folks).

Mmmmmmm.... Abacus!!!

techgirl Dec 2, 2006 11:55 am

Okay, everyone up through Seat1A is included in the count I've taken.

Due to holiday parties going on at the restaurant that night, we have had to cap the size of our party at ten. (And I know BJ has had a couple of folks RSVP via PM so I think we are either at that cap or very close right now.)

Seating will be at 8 pm. We'll meet in the bar at Abacus prior to seating. (^ ^ ^ to wasabi peas and cocktails) Reservation is in my name... I'll check in when we arrive so don't worry about checking in with the hostess unless its after 8 pm and we aren't in the bar - since we are on a tasting, they will want to seat us when we are complete or nearly there. (For the one or two comng who might not know my name, PM me!)

Dress is business casual or business... please bring cash as they will not split checks. (Its being held on my credit card right now but I accept bribes and free champagne for those who want to get the points for themselves....) Dinner is nine courses (and probably a round of lobster shooters on top of that). $80 is the base plus drinks/any extras plus 20% gratuity. There is a wine pairing option for another $25 (which you can individually opt in or out of).

To the brunch crew...

I've got Kent Rathburn on the brain today.

What about Jaspers for our brunch on Saturday the 23rd? That way we can just make it an all-Kent-Rathburn kind of DFW month.

Its close to SOME shopping for those who have last minute buying - but not SO close that parking will be bad. And its near the Angelika for any who are done shopping who might be up for catching a matinee afterwards.

Will that work? (I was working around a Plano assumption since that seemed to be in the middle ground for those who can come.)

Lunch there is great - I've found that the portions are about the same as dinner - without the dinner prices. The sandwiches are great - and I've heard the more breakfast-y items are too. And the Maytag Blue Cheese Potato Chips are my favorite thing on the menu.

Will that work for the brunch crew? 11 am? I'll wait for feedback and then make a reservation....

(Oh, and jeans are totally fine for dining during the day - just in case anyone was wondering....)

They actually lose all that pungency when heated... I know lots of blue haters and they all LOVE these chips.
