I am still a proud owner of such a NO ONEX - thank you BlondeBomber
|
Guess I better not bring my Onex share certificates!

Just arrived tonight from Singapore and have a slew of things to attend to, but I'll do first what I like best.
Punki: Sorry, no fireflies of any significance here in Montréal or on the way from Burlington. We do have fireworks, though. Shareholder: A wake after the Sunday brunch will be fine by me. Shall I organize a church service at Notre-Dame Basilica? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif I've always been more partial to Irish wakes, though...more fun and lots more liquor! |
Which bar on Bishop Street did they hold the wake for Nick Auf Demaur (I know I got the spelling wrong)? I think the bassilica may be booked for other things on Sunday... How 'bout the old Forum?
Welcome back. Do you have enough pages in your passport for the trip to Australia later this month? That's a lot of miles in two months! Hmmm: Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney... Do you not see a pattern emerging here? |
Count Terry and I in for the jet boat tour. I'll bring my "wet" suit.
|
Count Sondra and I also in on the Jet Boat trip.
Ed |
Count me in for the jet oat also.
|
Well, we've made our minimum quota for the jet boat tour. There is still room for others, though. So if you're in the mood for water sports, get on board with the rest of us.
Shareholder: You are one clever fellow. Yes, Brigitte and I are working our way through the geographic alphabet. We're currently at the "S's". If anyone has any further interesting "S" spots in the world (we've done San Diego, San Francisco, San José, Santiago, Syracuse, Shanghai, Singapore, Spain (somwhat generic), and Schiphol in the last 18 months...and will be doing Sydney later in August) esp. in a country where our CAD$ goes further than $0.67 USD, please let us know. Insofar as our passport is concerned, we are currently on page 19 of 23 with 3 years left to go. We can both fall back on our European passports if need be. A Sunday afternoon wake at "Woody's" would be a snore, so lets have it at our room at the Renaissance Parc. We'll bring our own scotch, save a bundle and drown our tears over the CP demise in a more private setting. Yes, I too am a Canadian + mourner. But then again, I still maintain a healthy balance in my AC AP account. |
By next Saturday, July 15 I must have the final list of FAQ Dinner attendees in my hands to forward to the Auberge Pierre du Calvet. So for all intents and purposes, I would appreciate knowing by midnight, Friday July 14.
As it stands the list of definites for dinner include:
FARE ALERT There are still cheap $198 USD (or so) RT fares from the west coast to ALB. These include:
Time is running out...less than 2 weeks till the FAQ!!!! [This message has been edited by flyme2 (edited 07-12-2000).] |
Sure, we'll hold the Canadian Plus wake at your room flyme2, after brunch on Sunday. I'll bring a bottle of single malt (as well as something from my cellar for the tasting, maybe a Cloudy Bay sauvignon blanc from New Zealand, bought at the winery).
As for Monday's tours: We will be doing Air Canada's Aeroplan Centre at 9:30 and go to about 11. This is a call and operations centre in central Montreal. We then drive to Dorval (we should have enough vehicles at our disposal) for a lunch provided at AC headquarters (Noon to 1:15). They use their staff restaurant as a test kitchen for inflight Executive/ExecutiveFirst menus and it is run by their caterer, Cara. Question: I am trying to have a tour of behind the scenes at the terminal set up for those non-Aeroplan/Canadian Plus guests to cover off most of the lunch hour, with a snack lunch. Reason -- We will be meeting over lunch with AC senior execs (Rupert Duchesne, SnrVP in charge of intergrating AC and Cdn, and Marc Trudeau, SnrDir loyalty programs) and presenting them with our "Perfect Airline" posts from the AC forum. This may be too self-indulgent for some of you, so let me know if you'd like an optional tour here, or just a nice lunch and bear with us Canucks and our "shoptalk". (FYI: Last week AC announced that Cdn+ will be merged into their Aeroplan program as of Jan 1st, 2000, so our meeting is very timely since all the details have not been worked out as yet.) Tour of Engine Shop, Component Maintenance Shop and Overhaul Facility (1:30 to 2:30/3). So far, the following have confirmed their intention to join us Monday: RichG CaptMike Flyme2 BlondeBomber KenHAAmer Sparticus dgolds johna Shareholder Please let me know if I have left you out, or if you would like to come along. Time to scratch (gently Ken!) the belly of the beast http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
|
Shareholder: I have been given dispensation by the "boss" to attend the lunch with AC Execs on Monday then we will take off for New York!

Sorry everyone, CanadianHoneyBun and I will NOT be able to make it. We must attent another function.
Hope to see you all in Toronto in September. |
You'll have to pardon me, but it is early morning out here, and I've just been reading the "Financial Post" which has a big article on the Krispy Kreme franchises of donut shops below the 49th parallel. My stomach yearns for something sweet to go with my morning Second Cup Paradiso Dark...
Though I have been to the 'States many, many times, I have yet to encounter a Krispy Kreme. But they are known to me, of course, from postings buried away in various of the foums on FlyerTalk. So, I was wondering if any of you folks flying up for the weekend might consider smuggling in a box of your favourite (sealed in a plastic bag to protect their freshness on a two-day voyage) selections, so those of us less gourmet eaters might sample them at Saturday's tasting? I would be prepared to pick up a box of Tim Horton's (Canada's national donut chain) and we could do a cross-border taste-off! Donuts, hmmmmmmm.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
Please make sure there are many photographs taken at these events... I am soooo jealeous and very sorry I can not attend.
