BB: Could you post a URL to the "Just For Laughs" schedule? Unfortunately, I don't get in until very late the night of the 21st and won't have a chance to see anything on Friday. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
Very much looking forward to meeting you... |
dgolds: here is url for Just for Laughs indoor schedules:
http://www.hahaha.com/english/festival/schedules.html There are other "buttons" if you want to find out more about each show etc. Looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the FAQ crew in a few weeks (not long now). |
Just got off the phone making booking for Gala 8 (Just for Laughs). They were out of cheaper mid-range tickets ($43 CAD) so opted for $65 top price tickets (still a good deal).
If you are thinking of going (especially to GALAs), make your bookings soon. Hotel du Fort is still offering $115 CAD superior rooms (Expedia anyway). If you haven't booked a hotel, might be worth a look. Moderate deluxe rating. Free parking. |
Canada Day in Singapore, eh flyme2! My stomach envies the gourmet delights of the Scotts Road hawkers stands you can take advantage of down there. Or wandering through the fragrant flora in the Botanical Garden. Always thought of Singapore as the more Canadian of the Pacific rim countries/cities because of its "peace and order" attitude (I won't venture it has "good government" aspect). It contrasts with Hong Kong, the wildly exuberant U.S.-style city, albeit tempered with a veneer of British heritage...
Since everyone is recapping, here are details of Monday's Air Canada tours, subject to final confirmation of times by AC later this week: 9 am — Visit to the Aeroplan customer service centre in downtown Montreal 10 am — Drive to Dorval airport 10:30 am — Tour the AC Maintenace Facility Noon — Lunch at Dorval (trying for Cara test kitchen at AC headquarters) 1:30 pm — Meeting with AC execs to present "Perfect Airline" postings While we have seven confirmed, we can take several more. You may also start the tour at the Maintenance Facility, and don't have to stay for lunch or the afternoon meeting. Sorry I'll miss Thursday's orientation as I won't be in until 4:05 Friday on Cdn's non-stop from YEG. (I'll take the bus to the Sheraton Centre unless BB wants to wait.) By the way, I've always wondered why one strip of the freeway from the airport to the city has the traffic flowing on the wrong side: i.e. into town it is on the left when it should be on the right of the divide? Any ideas about that flyme2? |
Thanks for the update, Shareholder.
RE: a ride into downtown. Let's see how the incomings stack up. Unless there are earlier arrivals in need of transport, we will wait till your flight arrives. In any case, we will coordinate with flyme2 to make sure that everyone can be accommodated. |
It is with a profound sense of loss and regret that I must cordially decline participation in this most austere event. I'm afraid work/family obligations are overwhelming me and my ability to participate has been nixed by a HIGHER authority http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
I'm Reeeeeeeallly sad.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |
Well I guess you are kokoNUTZ.
But we all understand about the higher authority (at least those of us who understand the men's tips thread) You will be missed http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |
Regarding the Air Canada maintenance tour, I toured UA's maintenance facility here in the Bay Area a few years ago, and it was simply fascinating for an airline junkie like me. I highly recommend signing up for AC's version - it's sure to be a winner!

My wife, Karen, and I are still planning on driving up fairly early on Friday (Thursday eve is still a possibility). We won't have exact times closer to that weekend but should be able to help with airport runs.
We bought tix for two Just for Laughs shows that shouldn't conflict with any FT events - Late Nite Catechism on Saturday afternoon and the Bar Mitzvah show on Sunday afternoon. Both should be a lot of fun. |
DATELINE: 15:40 Wed Jul 05, 2000 Sheraton Towers, Singapore.
I will be doing initiation tours for those arriving on THU, JUL 20 as well as FRI, JUL 21. As many as will fit in the FAQmobile and any comandeered rental cars. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Sorry to hear about KOKONUTZ Shareholder: HW 20 has always been somewhat unique. The only answer I can come up with as to why it's orientation is reversed near the Turcot Interchange is that it is one of the oldest routes into Montréal and may have been designed before modern standardization took hold. |
Continental is offering a great fare of $116 to Montreal from Columbus, Ohio. If you are looking for a cheap fare to YUL, it doesn't get much cheaper than this.
|
Rick or anybody in the know,
Do they have fire flies in Montreal? How about along the way from Burlington to Montreal? |
Due to the events of today (Canadian Airlines announced it is cancelling its Canadian Plus FF program and members will be transferred into Air Canada's Aeroplan program effective January 1st, 2001), Randy has announced plans to merge the Cdn forum with that of AC on August 1st. This will be hard for many of us up here to accept, a bit like losing a loved one, but it appears we are all in agreement it should be done.
I am, therefore, proposing that we include a small wake in the FAQ schedule (on Sunday), so we Cdn+ and Aeroplan members can join hands and toast to the future, while celebrating the past (and the great days of Cdn+ and the multitude of bonuses each gave us as the two carriers fought it out for our business). I believe both Blondebomber and Andrew Webber are coming to Montreal (Aeroplan devotées both) and Ken HAAmer and I will be there to represent Cdn+. Any other members of these two programs are invited to join us at this event, as are our friends from STAR and oneworld partner programs, and others (SkyMiles, Worldperks, Aviator, etc.) |
Ah yes those bonuses--I am really going to miss them (brings a tear to my eye) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Remind me to bring a NO ONEX sticker or button to bury/burn!
