Well, you know that Joe and I are coming. Sounds like an event that can't be missed.
|
I am sooooo disappointed that I will not be able to attend http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif . The menu and the setting look wonderful. The list of attendees looks even better. I am looking forward to the reports of what will certainly be a good time... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

In a bid to make everyone happy:
dg1: I will happily yield my 2 night stay at the Renaissance Montréal du Parc (a 3*** Marriott property) to you for the bargain price of $113 USD (total for the 2 nights, July 21 & 22, including all taxes & service charges) that I paid at Priceline. You'll save well over $100 USD over what you're currently set to pay at the Marriott Chateau Champlain. That should cover the cost of 2 FAQ dinners. Let me know if you're interested. I only live 4 minutes from downtown. Check out the hotel: http://www.renaissancehotels.com/YULBR/ [This message has been edited by flyme2 (edited 05-24-2000).] |
Check out:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/000390.html Maybe the next article will mention some of the celebrities from FlyerTalk who have eaten there! |
My wife Karen and I will be there at the dinner, for sure.
It looks like a great menu! |
Sounds yummy, please count me in as well.

Flyme2, you have done a great job of arranging everything. I am really disappointed http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif not to be able to make it. My visit home (yes, another Montrealer amongst us!) will be for the Jazz Festival time period http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif (end June - beg July). Hope you all have a splendid time!

Such a tease just hearing you all talk about Monreal! My wife and I can't wait to go back there (it was our honeymoon), but probably won't be for a while, have too many other trips planned.
And the Calvet House ... well, Vieux-Montreal rocks! |
If you are staying or thinking of staying at the Le Centre Sheraton:
American Express, one of Canada's largest travel agencies, and Le Centre Sheraton Hotel today unveiled the American Express Club Floor, the first company sponsored and branded hotel floor in Montreal. This is one of the most unique marketing ventures in the hotel industry today. Located on the 8th floor of the 825-room Le Centre Sheraton Hotel in Montreal, the American Express Club Floor is available only to Amex's travel clients and can be booked through any one of the agency's network of over 3,200 travel offices worldwide. It provides superior accommodation and a wide range of enhanced services for the same price as Amex's negotiated standard room rate. Le Centre Sheraton recently renovated and upgraded the guest floor. "The Floor is intended to make the business travel experience as comfortable and productive as possible, by offering home-style comfort and all office amenities," says Yves Lalumiere, Regional Vice President, Eastern Canada, at American Express. "We entered into this partnership to give our business travel clients access to exclusive conveniences and amenities that no one else can. What we have created with Le Centre Sheraton's support is superior value for the travel dollar." Michel G. Giguere, General Manager, Le Centre Sheraton Hotel Montreal adds that he is extremely pleased that American Express has chosen his hotel for this exclusive venture, and feels it is a great illustration of the premiere quality services provided by Le Centre Sheraton. "This is a marketing partnership that greatly benefits the business traveller," says Mr. Giguere. "We are delighted to be the exclusive hotel in Montreal offering this unique and complete 'hotel within a hotel' travel concept. With our outstanding Sheraton hospitality and service and American Express' reputation for delivering quality products and services, we are confident of the floor's appeal." flyme2, that is not necessary! Especially since a Priceline rate may not get me points, a fate worse than death! <grin> (I like Marriott's better anyway)
Thanks for your good work in getting this altogether, and good luck, but I'm going to have to cancel. I freely admit I'm just a cheap S.O.B. Have a good one! |
Our dinner spot is also the subject of a half-page feature in the Globe & Mail's travel section this morning. It can be read on their web version: www.globeandmail.com. Go to the subject column on the left side of the page and click on Travel. These stories only last a week, so hurry over. Seems the auberge also has its own web site: www.pierreducalvet.com. I have tried this link and it doesn't seem to work either as a ".ca" or a ".com". Copied it direclty from the GLOBE article.
Very good and appropriate choice flyme2. FYI: I think the Sheraton Centre is full, though the Amex floor(s) might have space if booked through Amex Travel. I have tried to use my Starwood Preferred Guest 50% off certificate at the hotel, but to no avail. But I think a few of us are up the street at the Four Points which still has space. Count me in, too!

flyme2,
I am so happy that I am able to finally confirm that I will be able to attend at least some of the FAQ. Please count me IN! for what I am sure will be one of the best meals I have enjoyed! Exact details of my travels are still to be worked out, but I will be at dinner. Thank you again for all your efforts with the FAQ. I'm sure that we are all in for a treat! -Chris |
Wow, I'm really looking forward to this trip!

Well FlyerTalkers, I'm back from Shanghai and did Brigitte and I have a blast! I think we made more friends on this trip (FT events excepted, of course) than on any other. I guess it didn't hurt that we helped upgrade all 8 of our travelling companions to C class on that long flight from PVG-DTW (13 hours)...but I digress.
dg1: As Rudi would say, "I'm sooooo disappointed" that you won't be able to join our little party. I realize that fiscal responsibility comes first, but if you change your mind or inherit a windfall, please know that you will be most welcome. Be aware, that as an enticement, I keep a very well stocked liquor cabinet. You were one of the first to commit, so forgive my sentimentality. A couple of attendees will be coming out of the FA "closet", so to speak and I will announce their attendance when they wish me to do so. I'm happy to have them aboard so that FT'ers can get a more balanced view of the Flyer world as we know it. I'm still working on Randy as an attendee, and he has expressed interest despite the fact that he will be returning from Europe on the Friday before Saturday's dinner. Fellow attendees: Let him know you want him there...post!...email...write! I am also currently planning to head a group of adventurous types on a Lachine Rapids jet boat ride. If you're not a wimp, don't mind getting wet and love having fun, let me know and I'll sign you up! I'm thinking of scheduling this on Sunday, but it isn't etched in stone. Okay, FT'ers...ball's in your court! |
