Okay, FAQ'ers: The brave and mighty among us have signed on to take the Lachine Rapids Jet Boat event...and they are: myself, of course, accompanied by Catman, AnnaS, AusTXHiker, Capt Mike (I think), dgolds, johna...am I missing someone. Yeah...YOU! Come on, don't wimp out on us now. How wet can you get? Pretty much 100%. How's that for FUN?

Flyme2,
O.K., I admit it - I'm a wimp. I'll be sending my daughter, age 18, as the "family representative" on the Jet Boat event. I only have one body, and already everything hurts and nothing works. I simply cannot die before reaching AA million mile status. Daughter, on the other hand, will probably go on this thing five or six times! Count us in for just one participant, please, and one crotchety old father watching from the shore. |

I am not a swimmer, and I get carsick. Perhaps this is a sign that I'm a double wimp? The part about getting wet doesn't bother me, it's the part where... if I get on the boat, will I survive? Linda |
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Perhaps I should clarify things a bit. This jet boat tour is a walk in the park. No swimming, no paddling, no cussing. The "jet" part of this contraption does all the work. We have all the fun! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif You will get wet, but in hot, humid July...who cares? Danger? HA! We FT'ers risk our lives every time we...well you know...

I'm happy to announce that Sparatcus has asked to be penciled in pending the scheduling of dental surgery. If everything works out Spartacus, may I suggest ordering the filet mignon saignant so as not to irritate that delicate orifice we put to so much good use. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Could have sworn I posted this. Oh well here goes again.
Looks like I am moving to the definitely list. Was some possibility for Lindsey too but she now has a full time job so will likely stay back for this one. Flyme2: any tentative times for the different potential/planned "events" (wine/pastry tasting; jet boat; I know dinner on Saturday). I know we are free for most of the time but was trying to see how we could fit in various things. Any headliners in Just for Laughs that there are tickets left for? Shareholder: I am certainly in for the morning? Aeroplan tour but not sure about afternoon maintenance facility. Terry and I may take off for New England or Quebec--still studying options. |
BB: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif Looking forward to meeting you!

I have now moved to the DEFINITE list today. Doing a NW e-cert ticket for $278 plus fees. Arrival Friday noon, departure Monday noon. Anyone want to share a hotel room and rental car? E-mail me soon.

I am also now on the Definite list.

Gala 8 looks good to me too, but any would be OK.

I've managed to get a free afternoon here in Singapore so I can answer some questions posted here and via email.
Some of the FAQ'ers (sorry David http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif) will be arriving on Thu, Jul 20. I will be giving these FT'ers their Montréal initiation (similar to hazing http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif)on that date, so I'll have more time and room in the FAQmobile to dedicate to the others arriving on Fri, Jul 21. Fri, Jul 21 will see most of the gang arriving and I'll do my best to organize airport pickups. Anyone arriving by or having access to a car while in Montréal could begin a great friendship by volunteering a little time and tirewear. I'll also be doing the bulk of the initiation to Montréal on Fri. The Lachine Rapids Jet Boat tour will be at 10 AM on Sat, Jul 22 and will include breakfast. Charge for the combined package is in the $40 CAD range. Sat at 1:00 PM will be the pastry/wine/cheese and cheapskate travel talk. Everyone must bring a bottle of their favourite grog and we'll all decide who brought the best. I'll donate the prize, and everyone else will chip in a few $ (no more than about $10 CAD) for the pastry and cheese. Drinks at 7:00 PM Sat in old Montréal (optional and at your own cost) followed at 8:00 PM by the dinner at Pierre du Calvet. Sunday brunch at 11 AM (cost to be determined by locale...more on that later). Rest of the day free until fireworks competition at 10:00 PM (free). Monday AM: Air Canada tour hosted by Shareholder. Special thanks to BlondeBomber for posting the Just for Laughs segments and to Shareholder for organizing the Air Canada tour on Monday AM. Gotta run now...Brigitte has me scheduled for the night Safari...I'll be back in Montréal on Jul 7. |
We are arriving at about 3:15 PM on Friday afternoon and will have car. Rush hour starts very soon after but I think we will be going the right way (into downtown) so it should be less of a problem than going the wrong way (out of downtown). Still I would prefer to avoid it as much as possible.
Room for two more if you don't have tons of baggage! |
