reuvenh just notified me that he will definitely be attending. That means that the "Probable" list no longer exists, we have 23 "definites", 5 "possibles", and ysolde has her work cut out for her.

As of yesterday, ysolde is checking with delis (starting with the 2nd Ave Deli) to see which will agree to a number of criteria I gave her. I told her not to accept a maximum number of reservations which is less than the number of people on the "Definite" list at the time that she comes to an agreement with the deli.

Presuming that she has not yet come to an agreement, that would be no less than 23 places. If I can put you on the "definite" list right now it would be 24 places (again, presuming she has not already settled with the deli for 23).

I am hoping that she will get an even higher number for us, but that remains to be seen. Anyone who gets on the "definite" list before the magic number (whatever it might turn out to be) is guaranteed a spot. After that, they will be put on a waiting list, in order of their asking to attend, and will be able to join us only if there are cancellations -- and there usually are.

Would you like me to put you on the "Definite" list or the "Possible" list?

Thank you!

I will be there, even if I have to stand outside and eat my own sandwich, so the answer is definitive and thank you!

It was my pleasure to add you to the definite list. I do, however, hope that none of us has stand outside to eat -- it can get downright cold in NYC in December!

Just saw this on the Talk Mail newsletter ("FlyerTalk Member Gatherings"). I would like to attend as well. If there's still room, put me as a definite. Thanks for arranging this Dovster!

Until ysolde is able to make the arrangements and notifies me of the maximum number we will be allowed, I can't guarantee anything, but I will put you on the "Definite" list now.

That brings us to 25 and I very much hope that we will have room for everyone.

(Of course, if we do get tables for only 20, there is nothing to stop five people from walking in off the street and asking to be served.)

You know, you need to visit here for a real Hannuka Do.

A BYO Kosher Steakhouse, where all the wine must be kosher and mevushal.

The real place to go for a Hannuka Do is the world's Jewish homeland -- Brooklyn.

That, alas, is too far away for many of our attendees, so New Jersey is definitely out of the question.

Besides, a steak house, no matter how good it is and how many certificates of kashrut it might have, is not an old-fashioned Jewish deli. In fact, I will be somewhat disappointed if our waiter is not a bald, skinny, Jewish guy in his 60s who speaks with a Yiddish accent and has a very bad attitude.
