There are sites like crowdtilt we can use to pool funds and pay in advance if needed.

I'm hoping that will not be necessary. I would greatly prefer that we just get reservations, each person orders what he wants, and pays his own bill.

If the restaurant wants a guarantee of a minimal amount that our group will spend, I would be willing to work out something with it -- where I would make a reasonable deposit (depending on the size of the group) and the restaurant would refund any part of it which is below the minimum spend it requires.

I had a pastrami sandwich from 2nd Ave Deli earlier today with a sour pickle and a half-sour pickle.

I needed that, and I will have more tomorrow.
