Always wanted to join a DO. Now your are only 90 minutes flying time, it would be my pleasure to attend.
Also love to meet Eighblack, i am sure it will be a lot of fun.

Dubai Questions

- Is there a way for me to use the EK Lounge when I arrive at DXB (before clearing customs)? . Would prefer to "freshen up" before I head to the hotel.
Flying Emirates J, intercontinental.

Also how does this work with chauffeaur drive and luggage?

-Advice on getting around Dubai?. Not to keen on renting a car. Or should I?

There are no arrival lounges at DXB. The airport is close to the city and it wouldn't take over 30 minutes to get to a hotel all the way across town.

Chauffeur drive can be booked in advance online. When you arrive, after customs when you enter the public area, there is an area on the right where you get a slip for your chauffeur car.

Taxis are pretty cheap in Dubai. The other option is the metro, but it is only convenient to get from one mall to another.

Not advisable to rent unless you know where you are going. The roads network isn't the most user friendly even with satnav; if you miss an exit you could end up in another Emirate. Add to that, if you do drink, Dubai has zero tolerance for DUI so you wouldn't want to have your car on a DO night out.

You can add one of those "who cares--Delta" folks to the maybe list.

I have to see about shuffling my Germany/UAE schedules around, but hopefully won't cause too much fuss. Either way, my liver will take a beating whether I am there or not.

Moving closer to the Gold column...

Just snagged a Biz Class ticket arriving late Friday on *Alliance (with whom I have no status) for only 1/3 of the miles that DL wanted...
Awaiting confirmation from my travel buddy to elevate this to Gold.

Can we have an idea of the program / event times?

I suddenly have to change things around, need to go to Bahrain (for a few days) then back, debating when I should leave / come back.

Looks like I will be there Friday / Saturday only,

Thanks.

Would love to make it- spend every 2 weeks there in one shape or form and would love to hear from Skywards as I am cheesed- I travel 150,000 tier miles per year with them in Economy and am just short of 1million tier miles.

Let me know if in or not,

Thanks

It is now final that I won't be able to make it. So please remove from the maybe list. I hope everyone attending will have a great time.

Hmm

I have to choose and soon.

I could either make

Friday (all day)
Saturday (part of the day)

or

Saturday (all day)
Sunday (all day)

My choice depends on what's planned.

Detailed planning is still in progress, but tentatively it's going to be the brunch on Friday, and then a desert safari type activity on Saturday evening. Light meals and heavy drinks apart from those two

We still don't know what's happening on Sunday as that's when we want to do something with EK. I definitely think Fri/ Sat will be more happening though.
