This thread is now archived. The 2020 version is here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase-ultimate-rewards/1997467-sapphire-reserve-higher-annual-fee-550-lyft-doordash-benefits.html
It was a continuation of THIS discussion.

Use this thread to discuss the Sapphire Reserve card offer. There are separate threads to discuss:

$300 Travel Credit
Priority Pass
Concierge Service
Travel Insurance
Global Entry/TSA PreCheck reimbursement.

This card is subject to Chase's 5/24 policy. For information on (and discussion of) the policy, see Applying for Chase Credit Cards, 2017 onward. You can override 5/24 by having an in-branch pre-approval (only! online prequalification does NOT override 5/24), or by already being Chase Private Client (as in you see the "Chase Private Client" text on the login screen of the Chase mobile app.)

As of August 2018, all Chase Sapphire cards are (with limited exceptions) subject to an additional restriction:
The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.
See Sapphire (CSR & CSP) 48 months between bonuses, August 2018 for details and ongoing discussion.

Landing page with bonus offer (50,000 UR after spending $4,000 in 90 days):

https://creditcards.chase.com/credit...04&IS2F=Y71UH0

Application page: https://applynow.chase.com/FlexAppWe...304&PROMO=DF01

100,000 UR points is worth $1,000 as statement credit, $1,500 when used for travel through the Chase portal, or potentially more if transferred to a partner.

Card features are here: https://www.chase.com/card-benefits/...reserve/travel. The card's Priority Pass includes unlimited guests. (verified in Post #2635 ; also verified by Chase)

The card is made of the same material as the CSP, and is being shipped UPS Next Day Air.

How to determine your account number, expiration date, and shipping date before receiving the card
(** Note that this no longer seems to work checking on 5/18 - the account number in the secure message header is XXXXXX'd out except for last 4 digits)
(** Also I do not see any recent comments 5/18 on timely shipping or shipping method)

1. Send a secure message (SM) from the account. A common SM would be to ask about the sign-up bonus and last day to complete the spend requirement (which appears to be approximately 3.5 months from the date of approval).
2. Check the Sent Messages folder, and the full account number will be listed in the header of the message that you just sent. The number starts with 414720.
3. The expiration date is five years from the month of approval. So, if you were approved on August 31, 2016, your expiration date will be August 2021.
4. CVV2 number is not available, so if a merchant requires it for payment, you must wait for the physical card.
5. According to many reports, the card is not activated until it is shipped, which happens to be via UPS Next Day Air Saver (if shipped on Friday, you will not receive the card until Monday or the next business day). To find out when it is shipped, go to My UPS and sign up for a free account. You'll be notified when a shipment is destined for your address.
6. Contrary to what the customer service rep may tell you about the delivery of the card—such as the card will take 1-2 weeks or that expedited shipping is not available—the card is actually expedited and shipped via express shipping, as mentioned in #5. There is no need to ask for expedited shipping.

Priority Pass Select
Click HERE to read the separate thread discussing this benefit.
As soon as the account shows up online:
1. Click on Go To Ultimate Rewards.
2. Scroll down to the very bottom left and click on "Card Benefits"
3. Activate Membership to request card.
4. Card will take 1-2 weeks and can't be expedited, but members have reported success in charging the lounge access to the card and requesting a refund from Customer Service.
5. PP cards will be issued for the account holder and any AU(s)
6. According to Chase, CSR's PP membership includes guest access.

Duplicate Card
1. If you receive the plastic card, wait for the metal card to arrive automatically.
2. If you receive the metal card, send SM or call to request plastic card (for use with overseas merchants that require a card imprint, because you hate metal cards, whatever).
3. DO NOT request a replacement card (especially under any pretense that the card was lost or misplaced).
4. Both cards will have the same number, expiration and CVV. Both cards will work.
5. It appears that all CSR cards are sent overnight once produced, including the plastic 'replacement' cards. No need to request expedited shipping.

How to get bonus points on the first statement
Act very quickly; you may have less than a week. It depends on the timing of your first statement and when you receive the card. 4K in spending has to clear (not pending) about a week before the statement cuts in order to get the bonus points on that statement. Under "account details" you can see your first payment due date. Your closing date is usually three calendar days after your due date. For instance, if your very first bill is due October 20 that statement would close on September 23, and spending would have to clear by approximately September 16 in order to get the bonus points.

I figured it was worth the risk at 5/24 and thankfully I was right. I was initially declined at the branch but my banker called reconsideration for me and was able to have the application reopened so they could take another look. I was on the phone with them for about 15 minutes, during which time they confirmed a lot of the information on my application and asked several questions. I was finally approved after offering to move credit over from the regular Sapphire. For reference, I now have 5 Chase personal cards (United, British Airways, Ritz, Sapphire, Sapphire Reserve) and 1 business card (Ink Plus). I also have a Chase checking account.

Good luck.
Might want to consider converting the regular Sapphire to a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited to sweeten your rewards earning.

Went into my local branch today and applied.

No instant approval. I got the "letter in 7-10 days". I assume the 7-10 days = denial.

Not a big surprise, I'm currently at 5/24, so I was expecting rejection. We'll see.

Hi all, here's a what happened with my in-branch application. I am currently 5/24, but of those 3 are AUs.

applied in branch Friday 3/3, no instant approval
rejection letter received Thursday 3/9--too many accounts open in the last 24 months

called Reconsideration with the letter and went over the Transunion credit report and pointed out the accounts that I am AU and not responsible for.

Phone call took about 30 minutes, had to answer a ton of questions, and move line of credit from my existing Chase card, but got approved!

Thank you all for the valuable info, really helped with the approval process!

Wow...a family member tried that back in November (6/24 but 3 of the 6 were AU accounts) and they wouldn't budge on counting the AUs.

It's also possible they have discontinued the plastic since they restocked the metal ones.
In the thread a lot of people have tried to get 2 and most were shot down. Only a few lucky people who were sent out plastic cards back in 10/2016 later got metal replacements.
Then people who had metal cards started asking and a few got them but it was quickly shut down.
Just a data point. I called earlier this week, requested a plastic card, and received it yesterday. In doing so, I mentioned that a few merchants had problems with the metal card. The rep put me hold, presumably to check if the plastic card was available, and then told me it would be shipped out the next day.

The new plastic card had the same account number (including the CID) as the metal version.

Another data point: I applied Thursday in branch and had 6/24 (2 which were AU cards) and got an instant approval.

There were no pre-approval that showed up for this card, but the banker said that i was pre-approved for other cards (Chase sapphire preferred, slate) and people who are usually pre-approved for those also get approved for the CSR.

I asked the CPC banker what's up, and he said that Chase is slammed busy with people applying for CSR 100k bonus cards before the 11th, and they are a bit behind because of that. Advice was to just wait.
Just got the phone call, took 47 between fraud verification and going over all the details of my account. Approved at 4/24, required to reallocate credit limits since I have existing cards with very high limits. Was told card will be in the mail in next 1-2 weeks.

Total time from application in branch to phone call for approval was 6 days.

If you don't receive instant approval and has to call-in after 7-10 days for reconsideration, I suppose you still get the bonus right?
What about time period from when you need to complete spending? Is it from the day you applied OR from the day you get approved?

Probably just wasted an inquiry. Went into a branch and asked if I was preapproved for CSR. He actually said 'yes I was' so I have a feeling it wasn't a true pre-approval and he just saw it on the screen or something.

Put in an application, got 7-10 message. Expecting rejection and a wasted inquiry. Oh well. Long shot anyway.

Approved for 100k bonus today

I went into the branch on Wednesday because that was the first day I fell out of the 5/24 ban. There was some hassle with them pulling up my credit report. I think someone just typed the information into the system incorrectly. That got straightened out on Thursday. But then came the ultimate frustration. I have a fraud alert on my account so they had to call me at home to verify that I am me. But it turned out that Time Warner Cable had an outage and my home phone wasn't working. Luckily that was fixed by this morning and I was told that I have been approved for the card with the hundred thousand point bonus. Because I will be going out of town soon, they agreed to send the card to me by federal express. I have no idea whether I was preapproved, but a very nice banker at the branch helped push the application through the system.

Went into branch today for second CSR card to get 100,000 point offer before expiration tomorrow.
Instant approval with FedEx expedited delivery.
I did inform banker that PP has been getting turned away lately at AS lounges, due to space constraints.
Hopefully, when re-up for card happens later this year, many will decide to drop card ( and PP from CSR)

I fell below 5/24 on 3/8 and decided today was the day to go into bank to apply. I got 7-10 day notice and banker said we should call while I sat there. We did and I had to transfer 10k from other cards, then do verification process and was approved... Annoyed because I just decreased my CLI on another card for 10k Wednesday to avoid that issue. Oh well, I'm glad I was able to get in on the 100k bonus!

Exclamation Chase System Outage for new CSR app (In-branch) - March 11, 2017

I'm reading multiple reports from people returned empty handed from Chase branches due to nationwide system outage.

I called our Personal banker and she confirmed that report is right. Just head-up for folks if you planning to head Chase branch today.

My parents were informed that the CSR in-branch promo ended one day early. What is everyone else hearing? They have the option of applying for other cards.

Would Chase really do that?
