What types of purchases qualify for the Local Commuter Transportation category?

Merchants in the Local Commuter Transportation category include regional operators of local commuter passenger trains, subways, metro, buses, taxis, and ferries. Please note that some merchants that provide transportation and related services are not included in this category; for example, national and international trains (such as Amtrak), airport shuttles/limousines, parking lots/garages, tolls/bridges, airlines, hotels, car rental agencies, cruise lines, travel agencies, discount travel sites, vacation clubs, tour operators, and some municipal/government owned entities.

Freedom 2017 5X calendar published.

Under my Freddom UR tab "See Calendar", I see 2017 as:

Q1: Gas stations and local commuter transportation
Q2: Grocery Stores (not including Walmart and Target) and Drug Stores
Q3: Summer fun and more
Q4: Holiday and more

Same here. "Summer fun" and "Holiday" sounds so specific.

This gives Chase an opportunity to try to enlist specific merchants to subsidize those quarters.

Sometime in Quarter two the third and fourth Quarters should be known, may depend on Discover to some extent.

Chase likes to Monkey see - Monkey do.

Would've liked to see gas in the summer, but I'll take it! Also nice to see grocery stores again. Just hoping for Amazon sometime again, but that doesn't seem likely.

Buying VGCs at a gas station. Catch is that very few gas stations allow you to use a CC to buy them anymore. I know I don't have any around me.

Q2! Amazon gift card from grocery stores or drug stores! I have not seen too many gas station selling gift cards for Q1...

Why rush? With three you can wait for a really good quarter for you.

All 7-11 usually codes as gas stations for both Visa and Discover, even the ones without any pumps. I plan to buy something small early next year to check if this is still true in 2017.

Thanks for the idea! I've heard of that before, but never could get myself to bite since that would mean locking up funds in gift cards with no guaranteed spending coming up. There's also the fear of missing out on a bigger amazon discount. Finally, a lot of my amazon purchases end up being items where I'd like to have some kind of credit card extended warranty covering them. I know, I know, silly reasoning. But I guess that's why I haven't gotten into MS'ing yet haha

It is described in the Wiki of this thread. Doesn't sound like Uber is included.
