Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.

For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.

But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.

Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.

Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.

Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

Packages purchased from Disney count as Travel. Don't know about the authorized vacation planner; depends on coding for the respective agents.

I'll tell my agent I want to make a small payment on the package to see what the coding is, and will report back, but I'm curious to see what others have found.
Depends on how your agent is coded.

Has anyone tried to purchase AA miles from AA.COM directly?

I've long exhausted my $300 credit, but using Apple Pay with the transit card readers in Salt Lake City counted as travel (didn't try the ticket machines, though those probably would have as well), along with an in-flight food purchase on a Delta flight. Adding a Wi-Fi day pass before the date of travel via the Fly Delta app, on the other hand, did not count as travel. Wiki updated accordingly.

Here's a good one: I rent a hangar for my Cessna at my local airport for about $300 per month. Because the expense shows up as "Regional Airport" on my Sapphire Rewards card, it's counted as a travel expense. So I essentially get a free month's hangar rental courtesy Chase!

I recently received my refund back to my card for my Airbnb reservation due to Hurricane Harvey. I checked my travel credit and it still shows I have already used my $300 travel credit. Will I get the travel credit back since I got a refund on my reservation? Who would I contact at chase for this? The concierge or chase directly?

Did Chase originally reimburse you for the $300? Did they reverse the reimbursement?

This illustrates why the issuers do this rather than simply lowering the annual fee:

You are counting the same $300 twice. Once to reduce the annual fee, and again to claim that you are receiving a free month's hangar rent. It's one or the other, but not both.

Did you receive the $300 travel credit on your account? If so, then you'd do nothing.

You essentially paid zero and received $300 from Chase. That's your travel credit.

If you did not receive the $300 travel credit to your account, then you'd need to call Chase to get it reinstated.

(Since the travel credit posts almost instantly with the charge, I suspect you received the $300.)

Indeed. I will have to keep reminding myself--next month when I have to shell out $450--that I already got my credit 8 months ago, and that another one will be coming in January.

I got my card Nov 1, 2016 and used my credit immediately. Dec 1, 2016 I used my second credit as it was a new calendar year for me with that statement. Will my next travel credit be available Nov 1, 2017 on my anniversary or Dec 1, 2017 for the next calendar year?

You received the card prior to the changes (21 May 2017) so your travel credit renews after the December statement posts.

(See the wiki at the top of the page.)

Good point! Either way, the $300 travel credit matters and it makes the CSR card a lot more attractive.

Since I PC'd from the CSP to the CSR card when Chase announced the new rules, my calendar year anniversary is in December, the month I originally got the CSP. So I should get $300 now and $300 in December (I think)!

I am surprised so many seemingly intelligent people do fall for such marketing scam.

Thank you. Yes I did receive the $300 travel credit right after I initially reserved the airbnb 1.5 months ago. Airbnb has refunded the total amount as of a few days ago.

Applied in Aug 2016 and got renewal annual fee charged on Sept 1st. I made travel purchase that was posted on Sept 1 and I still didn't receive the travel credit.

Am I not getting travel credit on 2nd year after AF is charged or what?

THanks
