Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.

For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.

But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.

Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.

Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.

Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

It's not at all related to WoH. He's really asking a question re: Chase Sapphire Reserve if the purchase through Bellagio would trigger the "Travel" expense and therefore be reimbursed.

I completely understand that it's not related to Hyatt or WoH, but it deals with an mLife property and I was wondering if the travel credit would cover the show purchase. I wasn't sure which forum I should post in. Do I post in the Chase forum since it's dealing with the CSR? Do I post in the Las Vegas forum since it's at the Bellagio? Or, do I post here since it's booking through an mLife property website? Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Now that we have you moved into the correct forum & thread hopefully you'll get a good reply here. Check the wiki above too. My guess is that the show would NOT be considered travel but that is just a guess. Can you try a refundable booking just to find out for sure? Or are the show tix nonrefundable?

Thank you for the bump. The tickets are non-refundable. We'll give it a try and if not, no big deal.

Does anyone have any knowledge if this will work or not? Thanks.
It is not likely it will code as travel, and instead, as entertainment.

I have no direct experience at the Bellagio, but in general, if you buy tickets, it is not eligible for the $300 credit. If you charge tickets to your hotel room, it very well may be eligible.

Interesting data point:

I used a bikeshare bike to avoid a DC Metro "incident" caused by yet another track fire and it codes as travel.

It will not. The ticket sales code as "events and performances" or something like that, which doesn't qualify as travel.

Speaking of Las Vegas. My wife and I were planning a trip in July and had a reservation at the MGM. We used the CSR card to pay the deposit a few months ago and it fell under the travel credit. However, we then found a better deal at Mandalay Bay and thus cancelled our MGM reservation and made one at Mandalay Bay. It seems we "lost" our reimbursement because of that. I sent a message to Chase and they said that there is nothing they can do and can't credit the reimbursement back onto the account. Does anyone have any experience with something like this? Using the travel credit and then having to cancel a deposit for a hotel they made under it? Hope that makes sense. Would love some feedback. Thank you!

What does "lost" and "credit back" mean here exactly?

i.e. let's say the MGM deposit was $100 and you got the $100 reimbursement. You then canceled the MGM reservation and presumably got a $100 refund from MGM? Are you saying Chase also un-did the $100 travel reimbursement?

Yes, I worded that poorly. Our MGM deposit (~$175) fell under the $300 travel credit for 2017. Since the time we made that MGM reservation we maxed out the remainder of the travel credit for the year. We then discovered a better deal with Mandalay Bay (also ~$175 deposit) a few weeks ago, so I cancelled our MGM reservation and made one with Mandalay Bay. I noticed last week that the deposit for Mandalay Bay was on my monthly statement and then sent a message to Chase asking if the MGM deposit we made back in February could be put back on our travel credit for the year and they said they are unable to do that. Basically we lost $175 of the travel credit. Has anyone had experience calling Chase and speaking to a supervisor or something to have the travel credit put back on?

Was the MGM deposit non-refundable? If it wasn't, you would have gotten the $175 back from MGM so even if the travel credit wasn't returned you'd be out $0.

If the MGM deposit was non-refundable, the travel credit took care of the $175 that wouldn't have been refunded anyways so you're still out $0.

Am I missing something here?

The deposit was refundable, however when we cancelled the MGM deposit we never got it back since it was part of the travel credit for 2017. Essentially, we are missing out on ~$175 worth of our travel credit.

Exactly.

If they didn't claw back the $175 travel credit (and that would go against most other experiences I've read in the thread), then you didn't lose it -- you got it when you made the MGM charge and they never took it back, so you still "have" it regardless of whether you make another booking at MB or anywhere else or just don't take the trip at all.

Or another way to think of it, if they "put it back" in your account, and then applied it to the new $175 MB charge, that nets out to the same thing.
