Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit
How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.
For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.
But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.
Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.
Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.
Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.
What counts as Travel?
Gas Station and Grocery Store purchases will also count through 12/31/21. (See post 1521.)
The following items have been reimbursed.
Airline purchases, fees & gift cards:

There's nothing to lose, as the hotel will be refunding you the full cost of the reservation, even though you didn't pay all of it (Chase paid some of it).
For example, if you had booked a reservation for $1000, but you only had to pay Chase $700 for it because the travel credit covered the rest, when you get a refund from the hotel it will be $1000, not $700. You'll have turned the travel credit into cash.

Unless you've done this yourself or have seen someone else's confirmation I think you'd have to go through it for a definitive answer (I wouldn't even trust what a chase rep might say).

Once you get a travel credit it will NOT be taken away. Been there, done that.

Your statement here is not exactly set in stone... just because the hotel would refund you $1000 does NOT mean Chase will be refunding you $1000, they could very well refund you $700 because they know they paid you $300 for the travel credit.

Will Delta airfare get reimbursed or only Delta gift cards? If it's only giftcards, does the same $50 limit apply as does with Amex?

Chase's travel category is so broad, I suspect most CSR cardholders don't need a way to game this particular credit. To answer your question, though, anything with the word "refundable" in it would be a fairly risk-free way to be your own data point.

Anyone know if purchasing a 7-day JR Pass for Japan counts towards the $300 travel credit?
It looks like there are 2 places to purchase the JR Pass:

Indeed. We maxed the $300 travel credit within our first billing cycle with ordinary spending. Two moderately priced hotel nights and bam! we were done. We didn't even need the rental car bills and airline award fees, though we charged them to the CSR anyway because 3 UR/$ is a great rate. Anyone who's genuinely a traveler, the kind of person this card is designed and marketed for, should have no problem spending $300 on travel in twelve months.

Why wouldn't you wait to cancel hers until after you get the 2018 travel credit in December?
