Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.

For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.

But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.

Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.

Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.

Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

Got my CSR yesterday in the mail (plastic for now), bought $300 AA e-gift certificate today around noon. Still pending, description is "AMERICAN AIRLI AA"

When the charge posts (tomorrow maybe?), I'll report back if I got the credit or not. Risky move on my part - usually play it very safe, but this time I'm the guinea pig.

Also I heard that before the credit hits, you may be able to tell if you received the credit by going to the benefits page under UR and seeing if any of the award credit has been awarded. It will show even before the credit hits as a transaction.

I think on another site someone mentioned Delta GC for $300 triggered the credit in the comments section.

Absolutely, keep the wiki accurate. The diligent and informed readers of this thread have done a terrific job posting data points and keeping the wiki accurate. Just a heads up to everyone considering Hyatt gift cards that there have been some issues with both the physical and egift cards being hacked, though I believe Hyatt resolves the issue for those cards drained of value that had been purchased direct from Hyatt.

There is an ongoing thread on this in the Hyatt forum:

For those curious...

Chase is being surprisingly transparent when it comes to the travel credit, especially compared to how the Ritz card worked. On the Ritz, you'd have to call in to request the credit be applied.

With this card it's being automatically applied. Even better, they're showing it prominently on your online account.

If you go to Chase > Ultimate Rewards for your CSR, you get the following:

Note over on the right side of the image under Your Activity.

Anyone try any of the travel booking websites (expedia, hotels.com, etc.)? I'm assuming those would count... Need to book a hotel stay for December and they hotel I need to stay at is crazy expensive on UR, but cheap every place else.

Update and Data Point: My $300 AA e-gift certificate charge is still pending as of 9/11/16, however my "Rewards At A Glance" screen shows $300 travel credit received.

Any data points for AA gift cards that are plastic and ordered online though AA?

I do know the Citi Prestige (Master card) 250 airline credit will work for plastic AA gift cards

Data points suggest Master card and Visa usually code purchases the same

Confirmation of success with AA e-gift certificate

$300, purchased Thursday 9/8, posted Monday 9/12, credit received immediately upon posting.

I cannot update the Wiki, perhaps someone can add AA e-certificates to the yes column?
