OK, let me see if I get this right.

Let's say a Silver member at 300 status points earns 300 more status points between Jan 1 - March 31, 2026. Thus, on April 1, 2026 that member earns Gold Status having obtained 600 status points. That Gold membership will now be valid to Dec 31, 2026. However, if the Gold member earns another 300 SP between April - Dec 2026, the total number of status points earned during that calendar year is 600 thus earning that individual Gold status for all of 2027. The key point being that the 300 status points earned from Jan-Mar 2026 count both towards earning Gold for 2026 as well as towards status in 2027. Correct?

So, I have recently renewed my DM status (almost 20 years of DM status).
My DM status will now expire in August 2026. I have no doubt I will have collected 1200 status points beforehand (say May/June as I am splitting flights with SQ).
This means that I will only have few month (say 4 if I only renew in August) to earn another 1200 points to confirm DM status in 2027???? But even if I do it earlier (June), I will have only 6 months to do so?
It makes no sense to me?

Definitely want a clear answer to this... if retro-claim doesn't work, I might want to change some year end J tickets to next year...

Btw does anyone know how to remove CX membership from the current booking? I tried to edit the membership, error shows as "Please enter a valid programme name or number"

The points you collect between Jan-Aug 2026 would also count to qualify DM for 2027

Im Gold but can only make Silver with membership ending in Feb 26. Any tier points earned from now until Dec 25 need to be retro credited in Jan 26 to help count for renewing Silver until Dec 27 (determined by 1 Jan 1 31 Dec 26 tier points). Fortunately most tier points will be earned in Feb 26.

Members who have most of their travel in the rest of 2025 rather than in early 2026 may end up having their status cut short by quite a few months, e.g lets say they are Gold and expire in October 26 but earn 500 tier points from Oct 2025 to Dec 2025 then only 100 from Jan 2026 until Aug 2026, theyll only renew Gold for 4 months and will need to earn 200 points from Aug to Dec 26 just to get Silver in 2027. So its important for flights to be retro credited in January 2026 for any flights until then.

See my post #437. Your 2027 status will be determined by the total number of status points you earn during calendar year 2026 including those status points (in your example) that you earned up to August.

Retro-claimed sectors of flight literally yesterday...couldn't see the programme coming and changing as such. Would have kept the claim till 2026...

FAQ reveals retro claim will not help starting 2027. Status counting based on "activity date" or "flight date".

https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...QUESTIONLIST_9

But still, doesn't explain whether retro claiming 2025 year-end flight would help.

It sounds like we can retro credit until then (hopefully). Its also worth noting that 1st Feb 27 is the deadline for crediting flights to 2026 or you lose the tier points (only get the miles and still counts towards the Diamond award every 5 years).

So, The changes take effect on 1/1/26. I know have 540 points - I have December flights earning 250 points (two segments 100 each, two segments 25 each). I had planned to credit just one 100 segment to go over 600 for gold and the other 3 segments do a retro credit in January 2026 - but looks like they will credit ti 2025 under this new rule, Will excess points in 2025 roll over to 2026 or only the ones earned in flights in 2026 . Could I earn 100 on the 1st segment, request an early reset, and then earn the remaining 150 ? Anyway to salvage the points on these 4 December segments ?

I think its really bad marketing for those of us with SP being paid and booked for the next few months!

even BA was better in this case! When they reset the tier points cycle, everyone got ahead but not with CX in this case

this would of course make it very easy for me to renew. Almost too easy but not complaining.
hope this is officially clarified by CX as I did not see it (or interpret it this way but can very well be wrong).

You can’t remove FFP through app or website now. You can try doing it through WhatsApp or phone (it’s a hit-or-miss). The most reliable way is to find the lounge staff and have them remove the FFP manually with no questions asked.
