When your membership renews or changes in 2026 under the existing membership programme rules, whatever status you hold at that point will be valid until 31 December 2026.
On 1 January 2027, your membership status will be determined by the Status Points you have earned from 1 January 31 December 2026, based on the new requirements of the membership programme.

Let's say a Silver member at 300 status points earns 300 more status points between Jan 1 - March 31, 2026. Thus, on April 1, 2026 that member earns Gold Status having obtained 600 status points. That Gold membership will now be valid to Dec 31, 2026. However, if the Gold member earns another 300 SP between April - Dec 2026, the total number of status points earned during that calendar year is 600 thus earning that individual Gold status for all of 2027. The key point being that the 300 status points earned from Jan-Mar 2026 count both towards earning Gold for 2026 as well as towards status in 2027. Correct?

So, I have recently renewed my DM status (almost 20 years of DM status).
My DM status will now expire in August 2026. I have no doubt I will have collected 1200 status points beforehand (say May/June as I am splitting flights with SQ).
This means that I will only have few month (say 4 if I only renew in August) to earn another 1200 points to confirm DM status in 2027???? But even if I do it earlier (June), I will have only 6 months to do so?
It makes no sense to me?

Im Gold but can only make Silver with membership ending in Feb 26. Any tier points earned from now until Dec 25 need to be retro credited in Jan 26 to help count for renewing Silver until Dec 27 (determined by 1 Jan 1 31 Dec 26 tier points). Fortunately most tier points will be earned in Feb 26.
Members who have most of their travel in the rest of 2025 rather than in early 2026 may end up having their status cut short by quite a few months, e.g lets say they are Gold and expire in October 26 but earn 500 tier points from Oct 2025 to Dec 2025 then only 100 from Jan 2026 until Aug 2026, theyll only renew Gold for 4 months and will need to earn 200 points from Aug to Dec 26 just to get Silver in 2027. So its important for flights to be retro credited in January 2026 for any flights until then.

FAQ reveals retro claim will not help starting 2027. Status counting based on "activity date" or "flight date".
https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...QUESTIONLIST_9
But still, doesn't explain whether retro claiming 2025 year-end flight would help.

I think its really bad marketing for those of us with SP being paid and booked for the next few months!
even BA was better in this case! When they reset the tier points cycle, everyone got ahead but not with CX in this case

hope this is officially clarified by CX as I did not see it (or interpret it this way but can very well be wrong).

Definitely want a clear answer to this... if retro-claim doesn't work, I might want to change some year end J tickets to next year...
