HX is expanding? Buhahhahaha. See, someone is saying that, the 4-5 fifth-hand A330 is more attractive than the 40-50 brand-new 777-9 and A330-900 that CX will receive soon.
Its 2025. Cx ain't getting no planes till 2028. And are retiring 10 widebodies by then |

Just out from SCMP though - HX is going to start Urumqi and Melbourne. Apparently elsewhere they were saying they have 90% load factor on HKG-YVR.
I actually hope HX does well. The more pressures on CX, the better for us as passengers, even if we choose to fly CX exclusively. |

HX614 delayed 5 hours and HX640 delayed 3 hours today due to lack of aircraft. Indeed fleet well-planned.

Wouldn't they move India over to any regional 1-2-1 first, before Australia?

HX behaves just like MH. Pax have to assume the risks of significant delays / cancellations when they get on some less prioritised routes.

I've only flown with HX once and it was just fine. What are the factors that has made them so disorganized and unreliable?

This summer, they have already messed around with a bunch of my flights. Mostly, shuffling plane types but with downgrades from 330 to 320s. I was meant to fly them this weekend for the first time this summer but had to cancel last minute for work so havn't experienced their punctuality (or lack thereof) yet. |

Did they lose a bunch of planes since last summer? I flew them some last summer and it was all fine. Some minor delays but nothing worse than CX.

My advice is DO NOT take any HX long haul. They will only have 5 active long haul aircraft but 3 long-haul destinations (YVR, SYD, and if they're true, MEL). Any grounded aircraft will result significant delay (this time, B-LNL is grounded) |

They did. All 330-200 will store/retire/return to the lessor.

HX is clearly downsizing. Since this year 2 A333 left the fleet and one A333 is set to leave. There are also some rumors that only 5 A333 will stay in the HX fleet for long-haul operations. At the same time the introduction of B787 is indefinitely delayed.
Fingers crossed for my flights... I was speaking to cabin crew who happened to be from Osaka recently and mentioned the sliders on the Osaka red eye and they said they have gotten a lot of complaints about it. TBD whether they actually do something about it. |
I believe there will be more A330s will come from its parents and partner airlines. Returning leased aircraft may just allow HX to take more aircrafts from its parents.

That makes sense. Flying around empty business classes isn't very sensible. It was good while it lasted haha.
