Probably a good reason that they are swapping 77W to SFO and YVR.

I'm starting to think CX simply wanted to divert planes to expanding ports like JFK/LAX, etc. rather than open new ports with uncertainty.
i do hope CX can resume IST, ZRH, MAN service! |
What's weird is that on EWR's Airtrain, they mention Cathay Pacific as in being in Terminal B.

[rumor]CX schedule to fly EWR-HKG summer 2014?
There is some rumor spreading on Weibo. It appears the next NA destination for CX is going to be EWR. Interesting as CX is already doing 4X daily at JFK.

March 2014, not summer.

not some exciting rumor here.... it's been here for a while for almost a year now

...no offense, but come on guys. Do you have credible information? That has been rumored (on this board) for a long long time. It has been posted by very credible people (a pilot who works at CX). That ended up not happening as planned. Do we really need yet another thread to just speculate on this? From the sounds of it CX has been evaluating EWR for quite a while. They haven't yet pulled the trigger. I don't see how this rumor adds anything new to the debate.

As for the "rumor" being true. Yeah I heard it before. "2012", "summer 2012", "2013", "late 2013" and now "March 2014", I'll believe it when I see it. |

This forum has been through an extensive argument on how EWR and JFK are completely different airports that serve different markets, and both are very needed (if EWR is so redundant as you said why are there so many airlines that fly both to EWR and JFK, and multiple flights in each airport. The only surprise, in my opinion, is CX hasn't figured that out in the last 20+ years.)
