2 passengers arrived from USA to T1 at YYZ. One test result came back in 13 hours. The second test came back after 26 hours. We will use these same test results to fly back to USA on day 4 (3 days after arrival at YYZ).

Fast compared to me. I arrived Saturday, July 10. I was connecting, so I received a take home test. It was past 23:00 when I arrived home, so I didn't contact Switch health until the morning. Contacted Switch health at 08:30. The swab was finally taken at 11:30, with pick up by Purolator scheduled for Monday, July 12, 13:00-17:00. The package was indeed picked up around 15:00. And since then - nothing. It is Thursday, July 15, 08:11 and the Switch portal is still saying "Your test is at the lab"

Very unreliable and unpredictable. My tests taken at the BUF border took 4-5 days over the weekend and 1-3 days during the week. 2 passengers tested at YYZ at the exact same time yesterday. One result took 13 hours. The other took 26 hours.

Well I understand why they are not quarantining before you get the test result... If you have to quarantine 5 days it kind of kill the purpose of the exemption...

...whereas not quarantining for 5 days until you get a potentially positive result kind of kills the purpose of the test on arrival....

But who am I to look for logic in these rules, after all we have seen in the past 18 months?

Data point on timing of test results: I arrived on Friday 7/9 at YYZ, was given a take-home test as I was connecting to YYC. Completed the test 7/10 (Saturday) around noon ET. Dropped off at Purolator in Calgary an hour later. Received results today 7/15 1:45am ET. Around 4.5 days / 110 hour turnaround time for a weekend at-home test. Would have been impossible to use for my return to the US -- I took one of the Abbott/eMed ones with me fortunately which was sufficient.

The current OIC expires next week. Has anyone heard any chatter about whether the border may reopen in some way?

Thought I saw / heard a press conference where Trudeau said the border isn't opening anytime soon.

Southbound, OTOH, a LOT of pressure from US Representatives along 49th parallel states to unilaterally open the border.

All this while infections in US have doubled in many states in just last three weeks

Not holding my breath .....

Legault says yes to opening the border. Trudeau still cautious. Announcement coming soon. Depends how people react to these articles

Time to add my DP from earlier today.

Canadian citizen, US PR crossing at Peace Arch. No Nexus lanes, just three regular booths open. Still I had a 0 min wait to meet an officer.

I showed up with my Nexus (expired but I sent out the app for renewal), CDC card, negative ID Now test from Walgreens and the ArriveCAN printout.

A quick chat (2mins) with CBSA then I was directed to one of the tents set up right after the CBSA inspection area to deal with the Red Cross.

I was given the choice of taking the test kit home or getting tested on the spot which I opted for as I was the next one in line.

Testing took about 30mins and I was free to go,
I was told 24 hours to get the email with results, will report back with the actual timeframe later on.

Trudeau, according to CBC tonight, says rest of the world maybe in mid September. Nothing about Canadians going to US via land border.
