But suppose the "normal" WT+ price is £1,500 all-in, and you pay £1,700 + miles to MFU to CW.
In sale 1, the WT+ price is £1,000 all-in. You'd therefore expect to pay £1,200 + miles to MFU to CW.
In sale 2, the WT+ price is £700 all-in. You'd therefore expect to pay £900 + miles to MFU to CW.
So the following is incorrect, as waiting for sale 2 would still save you a further £300 per person compared to the price in sale 1:-If you were to buy WT+ in sale 2 but not MFU at that stage, then you'd pay £700 all-in. If you want to MFU later, you additionally pay £200 + miles - so you still end up with the benefit of the low sale fare in sale 2.

It is not due to any fare difference between fare classes in WT+.

I managed to book 4 x CW tickets LHR - JFK. There 2 redemptions using the AmEx 241 and 1 UUA (MFU in old speak) - I have to get the TPs to keep status somehow . I therefore got tickets that would cost £7,127 if bought today for £2,031 + 108,000 Avios. Would I have paid £7K - no, but it still shows the value of Avios despite some of the naysayers, and I was surprised at the good UUA availability from WT+ to CW.

Speaking of the 'Getaway' sale - £100 off a WT+ ticket to HKG....that's rubbish.

No, on two. One for my wife and the children (she gets free seat selection from point of booking as there is an infant in the booking) and the other one for me. All I need to do is get my dad sorted out with a ticket and we're set for our family outing to New York

What's not to get about £2K to HKG and back in CW? Ticket by today.HKG is not in the "Go After the Games" sale. As in my post linked to above, these WT+ fares were filed before the sale started, and they're for a different travel period. It's more a separate mini-sale: K season dates being sold at L season prices, and H season dates being sold at K season prices. There are no WT sale fares.

The price to HKG did go down though albeit by the £100 - i have been checkng daily. I am not very cluded up on classes types - all I know it by is WT, WT+, etc...hence my confusion.

Yes, but not as part of the "Go After the Games" sale. The price reduction was in place earlier than the start of the sale: 20 June, whereas the sale started on 27 June.
For trips with outbound travel from 13 to 31 August (part of K/shoulder/mid season), the price went down by £105 to match the normal price for L/low season. For trips with outbound travel from 21 July to 12 August (part of H/high season), the price went down by £120 to match the normal price for K season.
On checking, I see that (like the CW sale fare that expires today) these fare require the ticket to be issued by today (30 June). This also contrasts with the sale, for which the ticket by date is 10 July.

The HKG mini-sale has been extended by two days. Ticket by 3 July, for both the CW and WT+ components.

BA Economy and WT+ Sale - June 28th 2012 to July 10th 2012
Economy and WT+ sale to most BA destinations for travel generally from 10th September 2012 through 15th March 2013 (ex-LHR) or 10th June 2013 (ex-LGW). Dates varied depending on destination.
Advanced Purchase of 21 days for WT+ for the Americas and 7 days for everywhere else and WT. Minimum stay Saturday night however if you book Flight+Hotel this can sometimes be avoided.
Extract of full Terms and Conditions from BA at the bottom of this post
North America – most destinations similar prices to the last sale. Las Vegas is the standout US fare aligning more closely to LAX/SFO whereas previously it was at a premium, probably reflecting the new ex-LGW service. Canadian WT+ fares also generally down about £100
Caribbean and Latin America – very similar fare levels to last time – Grand Cayman the exception, down £120 although it is still one of the more costle destinations. Kingston up about £100
Middle East – very similar fares to last time around, some up £30, some down £30. Tel Aviv in WT+ is up £150 on last time.
South Asia - most fares up £50 from the last sale. Male in WT+ is up £250
Far East and Oz – very similar to the last sale. SYD up a bit but that reflects seasonality. Stand out fare is WT+ to SIN, down £300. Sales fares for Chinese destinations are from November.
South Africa – very similar fares to last time around
Here is a full list of BA long haul destinations and prices for this sale period:
I am using the low price finder as the main source for this data but it's not 100% accurate. If anything is way out please let me know.
u - fare has gone up a reasonable amount from the last sale
d - fare has gone down a reasonable amount from the last sale
