Look at https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/34593348-post4303.html / https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/34595722-post4310.html
You book two round trip tickets, one LHR-SOF-LHR and one SOF-LHR-SOF and select the dates/flights in such a way that they line up as LHR-SOF-LHR-SOF-LHR.
That's it.

As my TP year ends Aug 8, 2023 Ive been trying to find a run on or just after 8th. Am I too soon to do that? I have found BCN-LHR-HEL-JFK-LAX-SFO and the reverse to return but it's circa £1600. Same thing prices at around £1300 last year. Is that just the price now or can I improve on that somehow? Should I wait a bit?

I'd suggest looking at departure points of DUB or BUD also. West coast USA and Hawaii from BUD e.g. BUD-LHR-JFK-LAX-HNL is possible circa £1350 approx.

Booking horizon on ba.com is already open past 8th August 2023.

For my ITA searchable dates it's pricing at £1900 to HNL.

Hmmm yes same here. LAX comes to £1,533. Apologies.

Possible BUD-LHR-LAX-PHX below.

One issue highlighted upthread was zero I class availability on the transcontinentals (if looking to do JFK-LAX/SFO or MIA etc)

Thanks for that. It's not very efficient though, sadly. Adding in NYC keeps the price about the same and adds some efficiency but it seems to want to have 3 nights in Phoenix. Not sure I want 3 nights there. As an aside, I found the old version of matrix much easier to work with

Could you share an example please? Struggling to price up.

Hello all. Thanks to a cancelled trip I find myself in need of 30 tier points this side of Christmas.

Any suggestions for minimal expense / fuss? I know the holiday trips are all the rage right now for tier points, but I don't think I can spare the time. My "local" airports are LHR / LCY. I can do Manchester, but it'll take me an extra couple of hours to get there.

That would certainly be short and simple. Thanks, will have a look if I can find a date that works for me.

Are there any other suggestions for departure points/routings/destinations which I may have missed that someone else may know about?
I'm getting back into using the new ITA matrix but aren't fully with it yet.

Look at MXP and CDG. Seem to be the best ex-eu starting points for TP runs this side of Xmas.

I do like stouts, but controversially I'm not a massive fan of Guinness.
