In this case if you wanted to abandon the last segment you could also go SJC-LAX-JFK-HEL-LON-BER which seems to work, with either an overnight in heathrow or an airport change (not sure what routes are available for BER)

FWIW it seems to be a sort of pattern with AA transatlantic tickets usually permitting going through HEL for a small fare difference but with the same dates. Sometimes something like BER-LHR-HEL-LHR could work, although this fare doesn't seem to let me use that trick, but if you ever try it don't forget to remove the default limit on extra stops in ITA Matrix and do work with the multi-city tool once you know the dates (you can still choose the option with +- 2 days which helps). This also makes it easier to abandon the last segment (at your own risk).

Just an update, I am working on a 2021 thread and will have it ready asap. I was trying to finish it last week, but didn't manage it. Sorry for the delay.
I do hope we can get back to some gratuitous tier point running later this year

And the afternoon/evening rotation seems to be A350 too. there are a lot of AY changes right now. check finnair.com for the exact equipment (datapoint: today - could be an E190 tomorrow). HEL-JFK is also A350 now in the summer.

Crystal Ball time but I really hope my May SOF-LAX is possible. Managed such a lovely routing on the original incarnation of the fare.
Also waiting to hear if anyone has successfully managed a SOF B2B!

For those who feel things may be slightly better in late March, I booked the below as a bit of a punt:
AMS-LHR-OTP-LHR-DUS in CE for 255 approx. (which is is about 1.06 / TP)
The usual caveat's apply (currently travel to these destinations is only for essential travel and U.K. passport holders can't access them at the moment, but as an EU passport holder I decided to see how things play out and a FTV is fine if the picture hasn't improved. If any legs get cancelled I can also move the whole itinerary to later in the year for no penalty, so possibly worth a review.
