I was at the Burj Al Arab last week and on a Friday the beach club looked like the clientele you'd find if you were invited to a party on Sir Philip Green's yacht. On Sunday it was back to rich pleasant people.
It was paradise compared to the Waldorf Astoria, where we currently are. On the other hand, it is arguably good that we now live in a society where people who clearly come from a broad variety of backgrounds can earn enough to splash out £600 per day on a hotel :

I'll be flying in 3 weeks and hove no intention to cancel it. Loads are relatively thin after mid Jan, at least when I check at Expertflyer. I believe that at least one of the daily 2 rotations will operate, though.

Have a colleague flying out today (on EK). All Classes roughly half full on the EK8 (A380). Hotels still cheap and get even cheaper towards mid-Jan onwards.
However - "Coronavirus latest: UAE announces record number of daily cases with 1,856 new infections" - 3rd day running of record numbers. Whilst numbers are still low (deaths and positives) - it must surely be only a matter of time before some restrictions are put in place

I've got a booking at the end of February and currently Club World is showing about 50% booked on the way down and 20% on the way back - this is of course using ExpertFlyer which usually gives you a lower than actual load. Interestingly, on the A-350 going down, almost all the center pairs are taken, but none of the window singles. I am guessing a lot of couples escaping for a bit to warmer weather (which is what we hope to do).

In fact, given that you get to leave the house on Day 5 to do 'test to release', it actually gives you more freedom than everyone else!

My colleague arrived in DXB last night on EK and had to take a madatory PCR test at the testing facility just before immigration. They already had a (negative) Private PCR test certificate with them (from the UK) but the person escorting said that, from last night, testing on arrival from the UK would now be mandatory. Strangely though, there is no requirement to quarantine until the test result comes through (or so my colleague was told).
And Today (2nd Jan) - The UAE recorded another 1,963 cases of Covid-19 on Saturday - the highest number of daily infections for the fourth consecutive day.

Any hotel suggestions for the end of January? I’ve got the Marriott at around £90 a night with seemingly good reviews, but unsure if there is some better deals out there right now.
Atm i’m out in Club Suites which will be great. Sad to hear of the experiences of others and it certainly put us off booking the trip initially. But ultimately don’t mind the thought of laughing at instagram influencers posing for photo’s by the pool for a week.

Accor also has some bargains.
