Er...I might be! No idea, I have enough difficulty keeping up with what Hilton are doing without worrying about the others

I am a silver. My BA birthday is 8th July, my silver card expires 31st august 2023. Would I be right in thinking that I need to earn 300TP between 8th July 22 and 8th July 23 to extend my silver to 31st august 24? Or is this move for current silvers who are not going to have enough points by august of this year (for example) to maintain status through into 2023?

  • However, Silver members with renewal dates July-September 2022 will given a 50% reduction in the amount of tier points needed (From 600 to 300 TPs)
  • Everyone else still gets the 25% reduction in tier points until 31 December. This also applies if you want to qualify for a higher status level.
Let me see if I understand this (also, I can’t seem to find anything on the BA site about this - one of the links someone posted above takes me to an enrollment page for BAEC, and another just shows the 25% reductions until year end).

I’m a Silver with renewal date 8 August (expiration of Tier status 30 September).
So I guess now this means I can retain Silver with 300TPs (and four qualifying flights, I assume) before 8 August.
Also, if I don’t do that, I can qualify for Silver again for my next earning year, if I get 450 Tier points before 31 December but after 8 August.
I’ve currently got 0 TPs and, oddly, 1 qualifying flight (not sure how I got a qualifying flight without earning Tier points), so I’ve been trying for some time to decide if I make a push before 8 August to earn, or just keep redeeming Avios until then, and then make a push from 8 August until the end of the year.

Interesting. Well at least my 620 tier points earned this year haven't been a total waste.

Has it updated in anyone's account yet? Or has anyone received an email from BA telling them they're extended?

Something seems wrong here - if your end year is 8 August, then your status is valid till 30 September; or if your status is valid till 31 August, then your end year must be 8 July.

Either way, as a silver, you would need to reach the 300TP by the date your year ends (so for instance 8/8/2022) and the status will thus be renewed for the year (ie till 30/9/2023 in that case). If you want your status extended till 30/9/2024, then you would need to get 1) either 600TPs between 9/8/2022 and 8/8/2023, 2) OR 450TPs between 9/8/2022 and 31/12/2022.

I have had an email about 30 mins ago - I am Gold and 8th Sept year end. It says the extension has already been applied to my account but when I check on App and Ba.com it has not (i have logged out and logged back in). Have put this down to BA IT or the fact they are doing July and Aug before Sept so am not worried but be good to know if anyone else has can see the extension on their account

I wouldn't worry about it for at least a couple of weeks.

BA are currently having to fire up the spare hamsters for the server power wheel.

Interesting. I’ve not received anything from BA but this is definitely helpful for me. Thanks for posting.

Thank you - it is July (I’ve updated my original post) - post night shift brain melt! I’ve got a nice trip to Greece booked in sept with BAH which will take a chunk out of the 450TP, so a weekend in Sofia or somewhere in the autumn will cover the rest

That link doesn't seem to work for me, and I can't see any reference in the EC pages.. Can anyone share a link to the actual article/news? Thanks
