So is this the end of BAs LHR-NQY?
Why should it? As per your post above when it was first suggested Eastern had won you said they could at least provide services from LHR.

As BAs NQY routes have done quite well Id imagine a summer seasonal service from LHR as not everybody will favour Eastern. Its worth remembering the PSO is until 2025 and not just a year.

Just to clarify, it was a question I wanted everyones thoughts on.

I am not saying BA should or shouldnt run LHR-NQY.

Has this been formally announced?

I expect the desire for a BA service is more important to FTers than CCC! But a service into LCY would have been lovely and more convenient.

Why couldn't the Eastern service have started this month. I have to head down next week and the only way of making my trip work is a 5 hour train in the dark, a Premier Inn and then the Sleeper back.

There was actually another bid from BACF for LCY/NQY?

Baffling why this wouldn't be viewed as a millions times better (quicker access to London, fast access to the City, areas to the north and east of London, fast check-in so speedy door to door journeys, connectivity to much of Europe via LCY).

Any idea what Eastern do with the aircraft once it has returned to NYQ around 1030, until it has to do the return after 1630 or so?

At least FlyBE managed x3 rotations to LGW and a rotation to MAN with the same aircraft every day. Air SouthWest did x4 rotations.

From Newquay Airport website; Update 15 November 2021: We can confirm that the decision was taken on the reintroduction of the PSO route between Newquay and London last week and we are now working with Cornwall Council, the Department for Transport and Eastern Airways (as the selected airline) on the final details and expect to make an official announcement regarding the schedule and sale of seats next week.

Eastern Flight times published now. Seems we have to wait until the end of March before we have flight that gets in to London before 9am. Same with no evening return after 6pm until then either. This is better than nothing, but Flybe was better.

Wow! If you want to take a 23kg bag you have to take their 150 each way ticket! Maybe Chauffeur is cheaper at this rate

I thought the PSO was for 4 years not 2 years.

It seems that BA have axed their Heathrow to Newquay route, with all flights taken off sale. Shame really.

Looks to be a glitch or temporary move as flights reinstated 5 weekly from 26 June to 3 Sept.

Barely worth their while. Does any other route have such a short season?
