Storm Ciara, the third and most significant UK storm of the winter, is due to land on the night of Saturday 8 February and have an impact on transport provisions on Sunday 9 February. The whole of the UK and Ireland is in scope but the south of the UK may well bear the brunt. Posts 56 gives general advice, post 66 has the customer guideline for shorthaul services, which allows European travel to be be moved to 4 alternative dates. For cancelled services go to post 302 for LHR and post 292 for LGW., post 261 for LCY

What are the options going be?

I can see a 747 taxiing to the runway.

Had my EDI-LCY flight this afternoon cancelled.
Been rebooked next available flight to LHR tomorrow at 19:25! Not ideal.

A lot of stranded rugby fans up here i'd imagine..

Just boarded BA727 nice and early at GVA. The captain just announced that it is “quite windy” at Heathrow at the moment. English understatement at its finest.

At t5. Busy but not especially so. Security was v quick.

on ba 344 to nice. Inbound aircraft is here but it seems we don’t have a crew. Given the cancellations you would imagine That was one thing they had plenty of.

departs 12:15. At bus gate now 11:48 so I would not be hopeful of an on time departure

Just boarded a Vueling flight at CDG heading to LGW.. cabin crew said they have no idea where we will land but we will give Gatwick a try! The pilot then came on to see it's going to be bumpy bumpy bumpy but they did manage to land at LGW once today.. 2h30 delay so far..

Nothing is landing at LGW at the moment. Aircraft still departing so the stands are starting to look very empty.

Not been in this situation before..

Currently waiting to return to the gate.

I assume that we wait until they cancel the flight before we can book an alternative? Or could they hold the flight for a few hours and get a new crew?

On a reward flight as well.

We certainly are not going anytime soon. The company has instructed the plane to return.

On your flight the crew will have spare hours, so they may just ask you to wait and re-depart. I doubt anyone knows yet to be honest. If they think it will go, they won’t cancel it and you won’t be given an alternative. I guess just wait and see, you’ll know soon enough. The crew will look after you

if it’s just a simple return gate to free up space near the runway then it might not get cancelled. However crew times etc. They could reschedule it later for today. So just sit tight and see what happens. Let us know how is it going to turn out.

Huge thanks to everyone, particularly corporate-wage-slave, who has been keeping this thread updated with the latest developments. I’ve been keeping a close eye since I’m travelling tomorrow 10FEB GLA-LHR-DFW.

I see people impacted are being rebooked from Tuesday onwards so I’m assuming some knock-on effects are anticipated tomorrow. Do we know when impacts to tomorrow’s schedule - if any - are likely to be announced?

Hope everyone flying today gets to where they need to be safely and with minimal delay!
