Storm Ciara, the third and most significant UK storm of the winter, is due to land on the night of Saturday 8 February and have an impact on transport provisions on Sunday 9 February. The whole of the UK and Ireland is in scope but the south of the UK may well bear the brunt. Posts 56 gives general advice, post 66 has the customer guideline for shorthaul services, which allows European travel to be be moved to 4 alternative dates. For cancelled services go to post 302 for LHR and post 292 for LGW., post 261 for LCY

Always thought widebodys would be far less susceptible to being blown around on landing and a much better bet than an A320/B737 etc. Apparently not!

Looks like there are more cancellations as the BA0740 LHR-GVA at 11:00 is now cancelled as well (it was not the case last night). I'm on the last flight to GVA at 19:05 so hopefully the worst will have passed.

Good result for me. Due back from LIN on the 14:10 (BA589) today (Sunday). Saw the cancellation and rang the silver line yesterday and got through immediately. The agent rebooked us on the BA561 this morning. It was a BA holiday (4 pax in CE) and the agent "said" he couldn't ticket it but held the seats. Rang back and got a very nice lady in Newcastle an hour or so later who did the business (she said the original agent could have ticketed it).
Anyway, I'm home now. It saved me a fortune in breakfast costs at the Mandarin Oriental but I did have to get up a little earlier than I planned.
Had a good chat with the captain about the weather (while waiting for the loo) and in the end it was only marginally more interesting than normal.

Advice please....
Currently winds are too high to take off from Heathrow to Miami.
What are the options going be?
Would they just cancel the flight or would they delay it?
To do with being a 4 engine jet

I think it looks worse than it is = ) Mind you, looks like my flight is going to happen and also at least depart on time as it has left LHR to come to IST, so I think I'll avoid the heavy tapas BOB selection once on board. I have a window seat so will take a video of the landing let's see if it looks cool on video from inside.
