Thanks for that confirmation, I got that too but I wasn't sure if it was a desperate attempt to get some of the Club Kitchen stock dealt with.

In the meantime, why not keep things beautifully simple like Qantas and have a good cafetière?

I was well known for making decent coffee using nothing fancier than a billycan over the camp fire. It's all down to the quality and above all the amount of ground coffee you use more than anything else.

Great idea.

And hardly innovative, even for BA. Go had cafetieres in economy 20 years ago...

This new F&B service does look like a massive improvement but I cannot fathom how BA continue to serve that diabolical brown swill in lieu of coffee.

Given the minimal cost of coffee capsules I find it insulting that these get held back for F pax only. I actually once went to the galley and asked for an espresso in CW, not realising that they didn't serve them to J pax. The FA said they only had them in F but would try and find me one. He came back to tell me that they had to reserve them for the F pax but I could have 'normal' coffee if I wanted. The first officer who happened to be in the galley at the time looked as shocked as I was to hear that a premium cabin passenger was being denied a 15p coffee capsule, whilst champagne was freely available.

I don't expect spectacular gastronomic experiences in J but I also don't expect to actively downgrade my normal daily routine either.

When travelling long haul I need sleep and I need coffee. I can get one but not the other on BA.

Until that is fixed I will actively avoid them. No amount of burrata will change that.

Talking Please expand to LAX route quickly

Thank you CWS for this information. It's exciting to see. Now I have a trip LAX-LHR in mid December - here's to hoping that all the new improvements might be on board by then for this route, too. ^

If you pass this humble wish up the ladder, feel free to tell them I said "Pretty Please!" :-:

Adding espresso in J would only exacerbate timing issues. But the drip coffee quality could be increased dramatically. All the US carriers better drip coffee.

BA uses a coffee bag, rather like a giant tea bag, but unlike tea it doesn't greatly stew, the flavour comes out fairly quickly after hot water is poured on it. I suspect the impact of the quality of the underlying coffee product and this methodology is jointly combining to give the unattractive coffee that we get on BA.

I can just about remember the Go cafetière, small plastic things, and with those there is a stewing effect, the longer you leave it, the stronger the flavour. So how this could work on BA is that like the speciality teas, there could be small packets of ground coffee in various flavours, the cabin crew would simply tip the packet into a mini cafetière and top with hot water, so not much different work-wise from those asking for peppermint tea.

Having spent my lifetime drinking coffee and then worked in the 3rd wave independent coffee world for 5 yrs, HIDDY & CWS are absolutely right. It is all about the quality of the coffee sourced, its roast profile and then how it is made.

Having said that it is possible to make better coffee with commercial branded cheap high volume stuff such as Lavazza. But the amount espresso vs water is the key.

I would love supply airlines with amazing coffee! It might even stop me from drinking all their champagne!! Anyway on thread topic...

Ah ha! You caught me, it's a poor layout for my text & photo! It's more reference to the champagne then the setting!

.

On BA113 about to push back. New champagne glasses are nice enough methinks. Will only post any pics if they're different to the excellent ones already posted on this thread. 62A is an oasis of calm as always.

Its amazing to think that an airline will invest in keeping the champagne flowing freely but won't invest in decent coffee
