** AA Domestic First on two cabin will earn business TPs and avios for departures on or after 11 January 2017 - see reference posts for more details **

** Note that the practice of AA Domestic 3-class service flights booking into A for 210 TPs when I was no longer available ceased in September 2017. Discussion here. **

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

Istanbul is one of my favourites. Lots to see, stunning food, nice people, very good value (as you have found). I cannot recommend it highly enough. Summer or winter, as long as it is dry, you will enjoy.

Only if you have no problem to be stuck there a couple of days more due to snow...

BA flights are tough when you're not based in Europe. You generally can't book a BA-codeshare UNLESS you are connecting from BA metal. So HKG-SGN will not be bookable. There are a handful of fifth freedom flights globally that can be booked. SIN-SYD is the one example in Asia, as the BA flight has pick up /drop off rights in SIN. *** EDIT: Just priced this up for June/July. Best is S$711 on matrix for SIN-SYD 10 Jun rn 14 Jun for N class Economy. ***

This thread has some good discussion on how to book.

The best recommendation is to squeeze in a few segments next time your in the UK, to JER/MAN/EDI etc. Sorry I don't have better news!
Thank you for your reply!
I wasn't expecting to qualify for BA Silver, but I had an extra trip so I'm now 10 tier points 2 BA flights short from BA Silver, but I guess I won't take any BA flights this year, so....
I didnt think of this much when I first joined BAEC this year, but at that time, since I was taking BA, so why not, and I skipped MPC and joined BAEC. But guess what, I've calculated what will happen if I joined MPC instead, and the result is I'm not even qualified to be CX silver (OWR)! So I guess I should be grateful in this case. I guess I'll just have to wait for my chance, or perhaps a BA sale to LHR.

Wonder if anyone could give me some advice on how to approach the next few months of my BAEC membership.

My goal is to attain Silver status next year so I can get lounge access when I make 4 or 5 transatlantic crossings.

I'm currently sitting on 485 TP with a flight to come in August that'll take me to 555 TP.

My collection year ends 8th November 2017.

I've also recently relocated to NYC from London. So if I make my first ever Tier Point run it'll likely have to be from there.

I'm also wondering whether it makes sense to switch to AA loyalty program?

Welcome to the US. The massive credit card sign up bonuses now await you, I never even bothered with status when I was living in the US , I had so many miles from credit card sign up bonuses I never even needed status as I was always on award tickets in business or first class

Planning an ex-EU to ORD and went fishing for cheap fares from BA stations around Europe. May not be super useful but the cheapest by c. £300 was ex-ALG. c. £1,150 and from a quick play you could get it up to 440 tps.

May be useful to someone! Not quite an ex-eu... HNL seemed to jump up in price considerably but I am sure there'd be other options.

ALG also helps bring the price down as the last leg -- just booked a LIN-LHR-YYZ-PHL-MAD-ALG for much cheaper than other ex-EUs.

On another note, those, who have confidence in the humanity of man to work through their differences in the near future, can book TUN-DOH-DWC for £692. At 400 TP, this is £1.73/TP. For the less adventurous, TUN-AMM-DXB is also available for a similar price.

CX run: MLE-HKG-DPS

Biz class return for USD1,273 or GBP983. 140+140+140+140 TPs = 560 TPs. £1.75 / TP is excellent value for CX. A330 for MLE leg and 777 for DPS.

good availability. check google flights. Sample fare: https://goo.gl/flights/6OWJ

Many thanks. I will update the information. I usually try and catch these new routes but I hadn't spotted these ones.

I'm seeing BCN-LHR-JFK-LAX-SFO and back for £1,618, giving 720 tier points, instead of 560.

It works out at around £640-650. (inc Taxes, will change depending on which airports and connection)

Max TP accural: 300, therefore pricing out at approx £2.15/TP
Found an improvement on the above:

Norway-LHR/LGW-HKG-CGK-HKG-LHR-Norway M/E/E/E/E/M

Lowest price including taxes: £587.

In addition to this: HKG-CGK is (just) 2000+ miles, therefore earning 380TPs brining it to £1.54/TP

So you need to get 45 TPs by November? I don't think you need a TP run, providing you have the eligible BA flights, you just need a return trip in AA somewhere with one way being in Domestic F.

As for switching FF to AA, you will then not have access to lounges when travelling domestically, so sticking to BAEC may be of more use. On the other hand, you are more likely to get upgraded and are able to use various features on AA to help that, so in essence it depends what you would like from your FF loyalty.

Have you got some example dates for that? Can't see anything close to that price...
