To be fair to Louise, she can only provide info she is given.
She is being incredibly helpful investigating this issue for me as a GGL when she had been told it only applied to Bronze and Silvers.
We are fortunate to have a BA Rep on the board. Let's not shoot the messenger, please.

Indeed there are a number of issues, but none of them, even in combination are enough to warrant sacking the whole IT team. The person/people in charge of QA and UAT however...

Although, and this is pure speculation on my part, given IAG's drive to lowest cost, I would imagine BA wouldn't be investing in a fully isolated, sandboxed dev, QA and UAT environments until a proverbial straw breaks a camels back

Oh I agree, not the whole team. Or even the head of QA/UAT for a one off issue. If that were the case, nobody would keep a job for long!

[QUOTE=DYKWIA;26172469]You obviously don't work in IT. /QUOTE]

Actually I have been the most senior board level manager for IT at a number of very large organisations.

They happen to be well run as their performance demonstrates.

I can't speak for what goes on at poorly managed outfits.

Let's get a sense of perspective - this is a minor glitch, not wholesale lack of system availability.

As I said, you don't work in IT

Strange that you think people need a sense of perspective given the amount of complaining you made about champagne/LGW lounge etc...

Well yes....but that's par for the course on here.

As for those calling for people to be sacked....they've totally lost the plot.

or have a grasp of basic IT. To compare Apple ITunes ( a product which runs on hundreds of millions of PCs and MACS under varying operating system revisions and different hardware platforms with a single central BA system running on controlled and specialised hardware is laughable

And exit rows in CE, when the loading dictates! ^

As far as this glitch goes, per Traveling For Miles, BA have sent out info to travel agents explaining that exit seats will be priced separately (no info on actual pricing) and are holding their hands up to issues caused by the IT work being implemented.
£14 at online check-in for my VIE-LGW (swapped into the exit row for free at bag drop).

I cannot believe we are 300+ posts into selection of exit seats.

Australian based forums were the same when they removed it for Qantas Platinum (OWE) members on longhaul flights.

But it seems it's just an IT issue, rather than a policy change (or have I missed something in the last 30 posts?)

I did not mention Louise's name, but I used 'BA Rep' in general. My point is indeed that the Rep provides info which is given to her/him but that that info is not always reliable and complete.

In your post you mention that Louise told that it only applies to Bronze and Silvers. You hereby illustrate the mis-communication yourself. It looks now that there is no change in policy for Bronze and Silvers. You have mis-understood the BA representative, not her fault I guess but not incredibly helpful either as you put it.
I am just trying to be objective here. But if you are satisfied with the communication that's good for you though.
