Was warmly greeted and welcomed back on board and thanked for my business on a recent ORD to LHR on American. This was down the back

Apologised for not being able to offer me a more comfortable seat

Interestingly never once had anything like this on BA

I never apologise for not being able to give a better seat, why would we do that?

Because you're a touchy feely cuddly bunny kind of person perhaps?

I might just back Gold this year (probably never again), but occasionally as silver the stewards(esses) have said how they need to look after the silvers - seems to very much depend if they've paid attention in their customer service 101 classes.

Last 3 weeks....3 BA return flights in ET (2xMF, 1xEF)...no greeting, no thank you, no "special treatment" at all. All 3 flights were not busy at all. In two occasions the CSM didn't even cross the curtain once.

Flying back to LHR in a couple of days...no expectations.

At BA it's always about standards and consistency, isn't it?

Have you thought about using another airline? I am beginning to worry for your stress levels

My first flight after turning Gold, I was welcomed at the F check in with a "I see you've just made Gold. Congratulations!". Que warm fuzzy feeling. Over the subsequent 9 BA flights, not a peep. Just one appaling exchange with CS via email

Got a pillow and blanket in Y on an IB Express flight yesterday, first time I've had any recognition from them!

I don't expect anything special in Y or J, I'm just happy when crew inspect my BP during boarding and say "welcome back Mr Lobengula" It's really a silly gesture but it makes me feel good.

Other than that, I really think the crew should provide the service paid for in each cabin. No special treatment for golds in Y. Consistency is the key ^

On the basis of a sample size of one (me) I would say there has been a change. After having been a gold for several years with only very occasional greetings, i've been warmly welcomed by the CSM/D on my last four long haul trips in J, W and Y. Slightly embarrassing and resulting in raised eyebrows from my neighbours (particularly when offered champagne from J when in Y) but welcome and quite sweet.
