We advise that you check your flight's seating plan regularly, as equipment changes mean changes in seating configurations are common.

How does 26 compare to this year ?
I'd of thought that eventually they will end up sourcing more than 10 A320, LGW could use the flexibility of a couple of A321s!!

Gatwick Airbus Fleet 2015
Oh good, another "3 class" short haul aircraft on the way to Gatwick; economy, club and 'front row/galley class' :-(

By the same token, does anyone know how bad the damage was to the airframe of what was to become G-GATO? Presumably the lessor is going to have to do extensive work to get it airworthy. If that is the case, would BA consider taking up the lease once it is repaired?

Am I right in thinking that G-MEDK is to be taken out of service shortly to be upgraded to take containerised luggage and then moved to LHR?

The Gatwick fleet are being fitted with another row on the DEF side (I think). So increasing their seat count from the current 171 to 174 (LHR fleet have 168).

Row 2 of GATx currently has a 63 cm gap from the front of the seat to the bulkhead, compared to 58 cm for the main A320 fleet, 55 cm for the A319s (and 42 cm for Aer Lingus' A320s, incidentally). So I guess that current luxury will go. Seems a lot of effort for 3 extra seats, it would surely be more cost effective to knock back the O and Q fare buckets when the aircraft fills up.

It's two rows of three seats, I believe, on the ABC side which brings the total number up to 177 seats.definitely six seats total with a wardrobe at the rear lefthand side is being removed. Nine of the G-GAT- aircraft are being altered like this from 171 to 177. The legroom will remain the same.

I am beginning to wonder if the seat increase will happen. Some of the G-GAT* series aircraft have been in service for 18 months or so and a couple have undergone C checks with no changes being made. Always happy to be corrected.
Even with 174 seats these A320 will have 12 less seats than Easyjet's new configuration and 6 less than Lufthansa's new layout on their A320Neos. I do accept however that Lufthansa have a different seat pitch on the front few rows of their Anew A320Neos. I actually think having different legroom in an aircraft used for European/Domestic routes does interfere with flexibility of use.(in purely economic terms).
As for comments on G-MEDK I believe it is staying put at Gatwick for the Summer at least as it is needed for an expanded flying programme. Again happy to be corrected but the services planned require a summer based fleet of 26 as detailed above in an earlier post.
