I will have to have a look at this later but flying from LBA will restrict our options flying from LHR as the connections won't often work

Why is that competition still on the page?

I noticed today looking at daytrips to Madrid that the IB operated LHR-MAD sectors are now showing at the daytrip rates, but on the return leg only the BA flights are shown at this rate.

I think this is something to do with the fact that the flights from T5 are all technically BA flights (the primary flight code is BA) but some are operated by Iberia. This means in T5 all the desks are joint BA/IB but in MAD they have separate desks.

Having the Iberia flights available increases the options, so if the early BA flights are not available or you'd rather leave around 9am there's an option available.

Remember Iberia offers buy on board in economy. Not sure whether this is a good or bad thing, depends what is on offer.

To Jersey and back for £56

A fortuitous benefit of http://www.britishairways.com/travel...r/public/en_gb is LGW-JER flights at £56 return (actually £55.56) for HBO tickets, day trips or longer available at this rate during the week, slightly more expensive at weekends.

The 'fare' is £0 with £55.56 in extras. Good availability to April excluding holidays. Book by 25 June.

If this flight is booked with cash and upgraded with avios, are the tira points the same as a cash booking? Assuming that an upgrade would be available.

No. you only get the tier points for the initial cash portion.

i.e.
Pay £40 for ET LGW-JER and you get 10TP.
Use Avios to upgrade to CE. You get 10TP but fly CE.
Use cash to upgrade and you get 40TP and fly CE.

Use Avios to book a ET ticket. Get 0TP (unless there's a glitch).
Pay cash to upgrade to CE and you still get 0TP as you initially used Avios.

Remember to try and use TCB as they're giving £3.15 cashback on short haul at present.

You can't upgrade cheep economy fares with Avios. The cheapest upgradeable economy fare LGW-JER may be more expensive than the cheapest business fare.

Did not know that, but the I suppose the example can be used generally. Wouldn't upgrade using Avios to/from JER anyway

Best use is longhaul WTP to CW as the cheaper WTP tickets are upgradable but WT/ET is not.

So for the purpose of this thread none of the daytrip economy fares are upgradable using Avios. They are often offered cash POUG (which will get full TP). If you're not worried about tier points and want a CE daytrip you could book outright using Avios for £50 return + 18000 Avios.

Off to Vienna on Saturday, have to say these daytrip fares are fantastic for impromptu last minute trips to see my mum and have coffee and schnitzel. ^

All the trips for two weeks time are showing as sold out. Is it a bug with the site, or general lack of availability in those classes or has this promotion nearing its end.

IIRC correctly, these are permanent fares, not a promotion. There are however, limited numbers sold on each flight. They are obviously proving popular!
