Don't get me wrong...I love shopping for great wine values at all price levels...I often buy excellent wines at less than $20, but if I had a $50 or $100 budget, I think I'd generally be able to do better. I think other airlines with bigger wine budgets do generally have better wines. I think the BA selection (including champagne) is upper-medium. I did really like the Bollinger Grand Annee in years past. I will admit that I do like DP (I'm sure my tastes will be criticized for that.) Now...I wish they'd bring back the caviar to go with all this generally good bubbly (although BA has had some pretty poor stuff in years past as well), but then again, I wish they'd bring back the Concorde. 
I also agree that you should be able to get a better wine for $20 from a place like Argentina than from California or France. I generally enjoy Malbecs for that very reason, and the Cantena is nice.
But I still say, give me a $50 budget and I'll beat the Cantena every day (that's not the same as saying every $50 wine is better than the Cantena).
On a related tangent, I do appreciate the availability of JW Blue, not that it's my favorite "premium" whiskey (as in $100-150+/bottle) -- unlimited free Blue Label is a nice treat.

I often get my wine and champagne in a rocks glass -- bigger servings and less spillage. The champagne glasses need to be refilled to quickly and no need to trouble the cabin crew more than necessary.

In GF today the champagne coolers were undergoing heavy maintenance; indeed the engineers said that they are poorly installed allowing little ventilation. Anyway, big champagne glasses are back and the Heineken tap has disappeared.

Flying out of T3 today, I was happy to find the Flounge displaying a classified red Bordeaux. The 2006 Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion, Pessac-Leognan, one of 3 vintages of reds from this Chateaux in the present millennium scoring <90 points (89, so a close shave) with wine guru Robert Parker.
Drinking well now, would finish within 2-3 years.
Another red Bordeaux, 2007 Chateau Tristan, Pomerol, was discovered at re-filling. Unfortunately, this bottle had a cork damage. The replacement came too late for me to evaluate.

I haven't done that route in F, but did do IAD-LHR in F back in April. This was the champagne list. I think LPGS is a given, but I am not sure how much they vary the rose over time or routes. I am actually doing LHR-JFK in August as well with my sister over the bank holiday...
Whilst it has no bearing on August flights, those same 3 champagnes have featured in F for several months now on all the TATLs that I've taken (including this last week).
As I mentioned supra the Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle has made a welcome appearance in the JFK CCR. I am reliably informed this is a regular feature. The current JFK CCR Rosé offering is the Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut.
