I am rooting for Ivory Coast as it would be nice to see an African team win in Africa.

And I am sure that all of North Korea's matches, at least the ones that will be broadcast inside North Korea, have already been played and recorded. Thanks to the inspirational vision and leadership of the Dear Leader, Great Comrade Kim Jong Il (who has composed many operas and regularly shoots several holes in one when he plays a round of golf), North Korea will defeat South Korea 28-0.

Unimportant games

Mrs BiH asked me if I will really be watching the 'unimportant games'. Once she saw the look of horror and confusion on my face she quickly realised that there aren't any.

Rooney cannot speak English can he ?

I'll give you odds of whatever you want on that - just send your stake over.

The same as England would have done if they had Holland in their group ;-)

Italy and France for Euro 2008, Spain for 2010...

As soon as you drop down a few seeds - it sure does get tough.

We're representing Britain,
And we're gaunny do or die,
Scotland cannae dae it,
'Cos they didnae qualify!

The above taken from the infamous 1978 Scotland Scotland World Cup song....with just one word altered to bring us up to 2010

I am currently in the GF lounge at T5. There's about 6 or 7 people around the TV watching the South Africa v Mexico match. They don't strike me as your typical spectators - 3 are necking pink champagne, there's a couple sharing a glass of wine, a chap sipping a coffee - with some kind of foam on the top - and a bloke munching on a packet of crisps. Good for him! All very sedate.

Fortunately, Palmer is on the steal and ale pies, across in the far corner, and has started on the Heineken. Give it another half an hour and I might just get my belly out and burst into the chorus of Three Lions...

I predict that a team who won't - but Hiddy might well be one of the few who remembers when they did - are also playing today.

Messi is looking like he has turned up anyway - I think I may well be wrong in my initial prediction that the Argies would go out at the group stage.

The French looked very ordinary last night.

Highlight so far for me was watching the Greece match earlier today in Skopje. Everyone was cheering the Koreans on... Hardly surprisingly given the animosity between Macedonia and the Greeks but still very funny.

England were pretty dire...predictably. We always seem to start slowly though and improve.

Feel sorry for Rob Green, poor chap

Were you drunk when you made that prediction?

I have been informed - by other sources, who ae variably reliable - that when the score was 1-1, that England had indeed scored two goals, one of which was an own-goal for the US. Haven't had a chance to confirm this though, any news?
