So does it depend on whether you have a Platinum or Gold card?
Not that hubby (Platinum) nor I (Gold) got it......

I can see it, but shall I wait for better offer? Not in need of any Avios right now.
Better not be greedy as I think The chances are quite slim to have another offer that is better than this one in the near future.

Try this:
Go to the travel page of Amex Membership Rewards. Click on "Airline Partners", Scroll down to BA and click on "Transfer my points". Now click on "Travel" again (the second from left drop down menu, next to 'Entertainment and Lifestyle").
When I do this is reveals both the BA and Virgin Offers in a scrolling banner at the top.
I am not going to convert any of my MR using this promotion as I am Avios rich at the moment and I will bide my time for another 100% bonus in the future.

Nothing for me, but fear not, last year I wasn't targeted for the 30% bonus in Spring, but that meant I still had a heap of miles for the 100% bonus in Summer. Hopefully that is still to come.
I would have been tempted by a big bonus for Virgin transfers though.

Not seeing it, but wanted to offload the miles before my renewal.
Does anyone know how long the bonus miles usually take to show if I move a 1000 to see if it works?

It is a bit rubbish. When they do similar promos in the US, they simply increase the conversion rate temporarily so you get all the miles at once.

That'll be why car hire is one of the few things I've not charged to my bmi or BA Amex cards.
I usually pre-pay the car hire so can't just use the card when booking and settle up with another card.
