Hi All
Looking for a little help with suggestions for the following.
Looking to fly LON - SYD next year. Leaving early to mid July (not too early say from 7 July onwards) for 4 weeks (or a few days more).
3 adults, biz class (^ miles and cash) ideally with a stopover each way.
In an "ideal" World we would stop somewhere like Singapore on the way out and somewhere else (not Hong Kong) on the way back but I accept that with redemptions you cannot always get what you want
so if it was Seoul both ways it wouldn't be a major problem!
TIA for any suggestions.

Cheat Sheet:
UA 767's (3 Class) - refurbished
UA 747's (3 Class) - Mixed - be careful.
UA 777's (doesn't matter) - Refurbishment delayed.
Unless it's a 747 route, I'd seriously think twice - least of all of the BD PE class looking seat they in the unrefurbed 777's....

That said, they've now converted almost half their long haul fleet -- but no 777s yet, and not enough by February to expect to get new seats on LHR-LAX.
* To be fair, the flourless chocolate cake was pretty good.

It may help if you go through the sticky, check on staralliance.com for the routing you want then go through ANA to see what there is there and if there are any non-ANA flights you need checked I am sure that someone will check availability for you.
It is probably the 3 seats that may be a hinderance, I have had a quick check and you can get 2 on a couple of dates but cannot see 3

have you tried using ANA as in the sticky at the top, this forum tends to be for specific flights that are not visible in ANA (eg LX flights)

Or is it possible to go with LX or LH? Would this be recommended? We wouldnt mind the connections and extra duration involved if the inflight service is superior.
Cheers

Possible, and availability is usually pretty good -- especially if you can be flexible +/- a day or two.
Recommended? Yes, based on personal LH experience and everything I've heard/read about LX, but note skywalkerLAX's point about arrivals at LAX's TBIT often being more stressful and time-consuming than arriving with UA at T6/7.

Dear Esteemed FTers
May I just check the following please?
LX - First redemption, 2.5 time miles (or miles and cash) but does not attract the 10k LH uplift per sector
LX - 340 days out redemption opens (as per a post on this forum I think pointing to awardgrabber) - or now that they are under LH's wing - does that mean 360 days open up?
LX via ZRH to JNB is the aim for 2010 August, is it best to use ExpertFlyer or M&M to check availability?
Is it best to check LHR-ZRH, then ZRH-JNB on EF or the whole thing?
Thanks all, once again, I am attempting to get us to JNB, which some of you may remember was how I got involved with FT last year!
I would appreciate your guidance.
Best wishes.

If anyone has any guidance as per the above, I would love to hear it, we want to travel in August 2010 and 340 days out comes up on Sunday. At present there is diddly squat in C or F on EF for August 2010 on LX, but I guess that is not unusual, hence the request above for guidance.
Many thanks.
Best wishes.

I didn't answer before as I can only reply "don't know" on when award inventory is made available, but this may help a little:
Correct.
I always check the whole thing first, as it sometimes finds routings I hadn't thought of and/or helps me avoid booking illegal connections, but always be ready to delve a level deeper by checking the individual segments.
I find EF easiest if I know I'm only looking for LX.

Thank you for your response, as yet, only coach showing on EF for ZRH-JNB August 2010, I will keep an eye on things and take a punt with the accommodation in the hope that F will open up as time goes on.
Best wishes.
