Has anyone managed to redeem BMI miles on SAA Airlink flights (SA8xxx flight numbers)

Apparently they might not really be considered part of *A

Looking at JNB-TNR (Antananarivo in Madagascar) flights around November time ... doesn't show in the ANA tool (though some Airlink flights do to other destinations) .. I called the ICC and they say they can see the flights but they are "sold out" every day

Fares are pretty hefty on this relatively short sector ( 380 r/t cheapest for a 3hr flight - closer to 500 most days ) .. so would be a worthwhile use of miles if it was possible to do so.

Could someone help me please?

I want to travel from BHD to LAX with VS (Upper class) in 26th June 2010 and return 17th July 2010. I have more than enough miles for my better half and myself.

When is the best time to order this trip?

Another possible route would be Air Zealand or United.

When I enquired about I was told that no bussiness class or first class seat were available.

Hi all,

I called the ICC a few days ago to try to book two C seats for IAH-IST in the first half of July 2010; the only routing shown by ANA is LH IAH-FRA folowed by (LH/TK) FRA-IST (many days open per ANA). When I called, I was informed that they "could not book LH that far in advance" and I would have to wait a couple of weeks or so to book. My questions:

1) Has anyone heard this (needing to wait for ~310 days rather than 330 days prior to the day of travel)?

2) Suggestions for alternate routings? I'm considering IAH-(CLT or maybe ORD)-LGA, stopping over in NYC for a few days, then continuing on JFK-IST via TK (all of which currently shows as available in ANA) - but my original plan was to try for a stopover in NYC on the way back (from ATH).

3) Is there a way to find out the maximum possible mileage on IAH-IST and ATH-IAH, so I can know what alternate routings are theoretically permissible?

4) I can start or end the trip in SAT or AUS if that would make a difference to any of the above - comments/suggestions?

5) (slightly OT) Is there a better telephone # to call for redemptions now that I made Gold status? I got my kit (finally) with the "free" gold # for UK residents, but that doesn't do me any good here in the USA (or am I wrong about this?). I tried the toll-free US #, and was told that I had to call a UK # in order to book award travel.

Thanks!

No BD account to Gold in 3.3 months - not a world record, but impressive by my standards!

check out the timetable on the star alliance website. If it appears on the timetable you can generally book it.

Help please?!

Good day,
I'm looking for a week in NYC or LAX (even SFO at a push) 23rd Oct-30th (it is half term week in the uk), flying out of the uk (LHR that means in practice but anywhere will do).
I'm after 2 (possibly 3) seats and have enough for either biz or economy (will accept different classes each way if thats possible).
I've been looking on the UA (as I'm very familiar with their transatlantic product and have status with them) site and that looks really poor avaialability. Been looking on ANA too but not getting very far very quickly there.
Can anyone give me any pointers/help please?
Thanks - its for my wifes big 50 and you'll make her very happy!

Briefly... (1) No problem at all to book different classes for outward and return. Most people here would recommend separate one-way bookings anyway, as it makes life much easier if changes need to be made. (2) There are nicer options than UA, especially if you might be doing one leg in Y. (3) As this is for a big occasion, I'd want to fly both directions in C. Don't forget the cash + miles option.

Given all that, I had a quick look at ZRH-JFK availability on LX. Plenty of award availability on 23 Oct, including two F seats if you feel like splurging, on LX 16 (posh new 333). Coming back is not as open, but there are still options: Y awards on LX 15 and LX 17 on 30 Oct. There's almost bound to be something on LH to FRA or DUS or MUC, too, so try looking for that on ANA. While you're there, see if there's anything on SQ (JFK-FRA).

Good luck!

Ok, first of all I would choose Southern California over NYC, hands down, but that may be just me. I would also opt for another carrier than UA, at least for the outbound (their new business product on a east-bound red-eye isn't the worst though).

Some considerations on my behalf on how to get to SoCal in style:

1. There is availability in First Class on Swiss to LAX on October 22nd. If you have the miles to do this and can take absence from work a day earlier, I wouldn't hesitate, as their first class is truly marvelous. No availability in business class on neither October 22nd nor 23rd.

2. If you want to go all business class, here is a suggested routing from me on the outbound:
23OCT Swiss LHR-ZRH LX345 dep 6:00 arr 8:40
23OCT Swiss ZRH-ORD LX8 dep 12:55 arr 15:35
23OCT United ORD-LAX UA129 dep 20:15 arr 22:38

On the inbound there is very little availability. Checked Air Canada, Air New Zealand and Swiss among others, without any luck. Your best bet on the return looks to be Lufthansa, who sadly don't have flat seats in business class.

Help with a Swiss 1st class redemption

Hi

I'm hoping to catch 2 x 1st class seats on a Swiss flight on 22 November 09 from Miami, Boston, Chicago or JFK I then need to connect from ZRH to Glasgow via LHR most likely but not really fussy.

Any help before I call the ICC would be appreciated ^
