You can book on miles however how many you are charged will depend on the metal. If it is a VS flight on a CO codeshare you will still be charged the rates for a VS flight - eg loads! + no cash and miles + no one-ways

Aha ! Was meaning booking it as a *A partner flight (it's only a one-way) so that's not an option.... anyone know about the award availability on co.com matching what the ICC can see ?

One (revenue) trip booked and out the way I'm onto my next (redemption).

I'm going to be in Rome until the 24th September, after which I need to get to Seoul (by Tuesday at the very latest). As I'll be in Zone 2 I've decided I may as well make the most of the situation and start my journey there, but I can't seem to find much availability in C.
A couple of exceptions:
LH via FRA in F - which is too expensive due to the surcharge).
CA via PVG/PEK - I am not keen on their on board product
One promising idea is FCO-IST-ICN on TK.

Do anyone have any other ideas?
I'm happy to connect at one end or the other, trying to get C class availability but would be happy to try F as well (but not LH).

I've looked at combinations of one and two airport changes:
European connections via ZRH, FRA, MUC, AMS and CPH
Plus Asian connections via PVG, PEK, HKG, NRT, OSK, SIN

I'd ideally like to travel on the 25th September or late at night on the 24th.

For a cash+miles redemption, do you need to fly in and out of the same airports, i.e. can i fly LHR-SYD and return MEL-LHR?

Yes, change of airport should be fine if within the same zone.
You can of course book it as two-oneways if it were a problem.

can anyone tell me if there is any availability in economy MAN to LAS 10/01/11-14/01/11? If there is how do I find out how much the taxes and charges will be on top?

what routing are you looking at - there are no direct flight
there is information in the sticky re checking routes, availability and taxes (once you know the route and airline)

I've now wittled a list together.
What are people's opinions on what I've gone for and any alternative options that might be better?

(Unfortunately the direct FCO-IST flight would land more than 24 hours before the IST-ICN departs, and there wasn't any availability on the next day).

Alternatives such as these exist:
TK (C) FCO-IST-BKK-CAN-ICN (A343, AB6, 777)
TK (C) FCO-IST-BKK-HKG-ICN (A343, 333, 333)

TG (F) FCO-MUC-BKK-CAN-ICN (744)
TG (F) FCO-ZRH-BKK (A346)

Or the round the houses routes:

I'm trying to depart on a Saturday night for arrival on Monday at the latest. Happy to consider more creative routes if it permits a stop somewhere whilst avoiding expensive accommodation. (Don't need any more time in IST though).
