China to Sydney through BKK

Is HKG-BKK-SYD or PVG-BKK-SYD a valid routing?

I'm guessing it is considering the limited options to SYD but wanted to check.

Thanks

Yes, both routings are valid routing.

Hi all,

Would HKG-ICN-LHR on OZ J Class be a valid routing?

Thanks,

A quickie from me.

Is FRA-NRT-HKG a valid route? I know FRA-ICN-HKG is.. but not sure about pushing further east....

Thanks :)

How many segments does the ICC typically allow on a one-way award?

1. I'm thinking of something like KEF-OSL-ZRH-PEK-NRT which is 4 segments. This is due to the fact that there is no availability on the ZRH-NRT direct. Think this might be possible?

2. and let's suppose if the ZRH-NRT direct route does open up, what are the chances of me adding in an extra segment, i.e. KEF-OSL-ZRH-NRT(STOPOVER)-OKA still total 4 segments, no backtracking involved.

Again, i think the answer all comes down to the maximum number of segments allowed. Thoughts?

I've done 4 sectors before, no problem if the routing requires it, watch the taxes and YQ though.

Looking for SIN-HAN (stopover) -CNX (Chiang Mai) as a Z7-Z7 redemption. HAN-CNX is same day connection via BKK (no non-stop routing). After 1st claiming it was a Z7-Z8-Z7 and coming up with an insane miles amount, the ICC agent then agreed it was all Z7, but wasn't a valid routing.

Worth calling back?

you can try however it likely to fall under backtracking and excess mileage, 1250 miles v's 2300 miles

SIN-HAN is available as a daily non-stop on SQ. I realise its pushing it but I don't see it as backtracking, geographically. I think the problem is that Star Alliance doesn't list it as a valid routing.

my understanding of backtracking is when you are not continuing in the same direction. Looking at the map it looks like you would leave SIN and fly over Thailand to get to HAN the do 180 degrees and take same path in the opposite direction, in the process almost doubling the mileage.
Stranger redemptions have probably got through in the past so who knows

You are indeed right, hadn't realised how far north Hanoi was. Back to the drawing board to eek the last out of my miles!!
