I am heading to NYC and YQT this coming winter (planning also to use my BA Miles for JFK-HKG-BKK r/t in CX F) and would like to know if I could fly: HEL-FRA-JFK(stopover)-YYZ-YQT or if you think I need two separate tickets, one for HEL-FRA-NYC and the other for NYC-YYZ-YQT?

For those who do not know, YQT is Thunder Bay in western Ontario - in the middle of nowhere :D And I just know that in early February it will be about -30C there... nice and cozy!

Should be ok, it won't exceed maximum permitted mileage, make sure you check availability on ANA/Aeroplan and ask the ICC for the trip a sector at a time

Thank you YorkieFlyer! ^

Will certainly ask for the flights sector by sector.

Following a recent telling off by the ICC, I wonder if the board can help - is LHR-NRT-HKG a valid Z1-Z8 routing?

I tried to book this as direct availability is very poor, as is via the usual FRA/MUC suspects, but was told it was not valid.

Does anyone know if this right (backtracking rule?) or should I just try for another agent? Also thought LHR-ICN-HKG might be a similar option.

Thanks

Brazil to Europe via US ?

I'm planning a return from MAO (Manaus, Brazil) home to CPH ?

Would via US be allowed as z4-z2 award ?

TAM has a direct MAO-MIA flight, the alternative is going through GRU/GIG in the opposite direction, and a stopover in MIA would be nice.

NRT is a bit of a long way round, though you might have some luck with another agent. ICN is 1000 miles shorter (5994 direct, 6804 ICN, 7816 NRT) so may be a better bet. It's also worth trying BKK, as then you're at least still going in the same direction...

Is LHR - MLE (Maldives) still Z1 - Z10 miles?

I recall a may have read that DC had changed the rules on this route - Something around now having to pay Z1-Z7 mileage if routing through BKK/SIN etc?

No it's still Z1 to 10 after a storm of protest DC listened and withdrew the proposal. So nice that they actually listen... I doubt Adios will be as good if that's where we all end up:(

I'd be interested in the answer to this too as I'm looking to book ZRH-BOS/BOS-YYZ-SCL but not sure if it is achievable or not?

That's z1-z4, but not a problem - I booked GVA-JFK/EWR-LIM, so I think you'd be okay.

Would this be a valid Z8-Z2 routing?
HKG-HKT/ Stopover & surface sector / BKK-IST

Thanks - would going via BKK not incur the higher Z1-Z7 miles though?

No, as your final destination is Z8 that's what you get charged. There was an attempt by bmi a few months back to tighten up on this and charge the "higher zone" mileage on routes like this but the proposal was withdrawn before ever being implemented.

Sao Paulo to New York

Will this route be OK?

GRU-BCN-FRA-JFK for a Z4 - Z3?
