Thanks to all who advised. Just wanted to confirm that LHR to Hong Kong via Saigon was successfully booked today so no issue with that routing.

Hey newbie here!

I am having trouble booking the following route.

KIX - SIN (Stopover) - MUC - PRG

ICC says this is not the most direct route and I have to book it as a Z8 to Z1 then Z1 to Z2.

Is this right? Will I have to book each sector separately?

Thanks.

Welcome!

Given that the Star Alliance online timetable lists SIN-MUC-PRG as a valid route, I would suggest that you be persistant, call again and try a different operator. MUC and PRG are only about 200 miles apart which is ridiculous to quibble over, SIN-MUC-TXL for instance would be fine by their logic as TXL is in zone 1, even though TXL is about 400 miles from MUC!

They clearly suspect you of trying to get a Z8-Z1 at Z8-Z2 prices IMO.

I would try again and if you get the same answer ask them on what basis they justify breaking the redemption up into 2 separate awards.

Then ask them how they suggest that you get to PRG from SIN given that there is no direct service?

Thanks for quick reply BHDBOY & Tiger_lily.

Now the ICC says KIX - SIN (Stopover) - MUC is backtracking which is not allow anyway. I will give it another go later. Finger cross.

+1. Ridiculous argument. I have no issue with BD trying to avoid 'over exploitation' of routings but as always they are ill prepared skill wise to handle this and go in 'over-enforcement mode' denying perfectly reasonable and valid itineraries.

For the OP - did they suggets any other routings? I mean all routings like KIX-SIN-MUC-PRG, KIX-BKK-MUC-PRG, KIX-HKG-XXX-PRG or KIX-ICN-XXX-PRG should be allowed. Could be they try to push you onto that KIX-FRA-PRG routing on LH but then I doubt they even know that exists. In this case, just keep calling till you get an agent with some common sense.

My feeling is, ICC allows whatever routing as long as it's only 2 segments.
I won't be surprised if ICC allows LAX-NRT-LHR as Z3-Z1 award. (many award seats are available on NRT routes these days)

Z3 - Z5 Atlantic or Pacific ?

I need to fly YVR - DXB preferbly with stopover in HKG or SIN...

Since its the same number of miles between Z3-Z8 as it is Z3-Z5, is it doable?

YVR-HKG-x/BKK-DXB on AC/TG
or
YVR-x/NRT-SIN-DXB on AC/SQ

Or would ICC make me go through Europe? ie YVR-x/FRA-DXB which is harder as YVR-europe award availability over summer is next to impossible.

Thank you...!

You know BMI is one of the best problems when the moderator of Cathay Pacific (with oneworld rtw redemption) and Singapore Airlines comes asking for help for a BMI redemption.

Legit Route

Howdy,

I'm looking at the following route:

DUB->LHR->SFO->HNL then the return HNL->SFO->LHR->DUB.

DUB to LHR with BD and the rest with UA all in first.

1. Is it valid, should be Zone 1 to Zone 11 via Zone 3
2. Any ideas of a rough total cost for 2 pax based on miles only + taxes (so far I think it's 400,000 + £691 total - using the BMI Flight Cost Calc)

Cheers,

Ronan

1.That's a valid routing
2. That's 400 000 miles for two R/T Miles only (I don't know about the taxes)

Is it worth to spend 400 000 miles to fly UA First ? :o

1. Yes
2. It should be 200000 + £349.55 taxes per person as far as I can work out, so your calculations seem pretty spot on.

If you have problems finding availability on LHR-SFO you can also go via NRT

Cheers G / Tiger,

I actaully think I can get to a Maui (island right beside honolulu) which is in Zone 3 all for 225,000 miles + £691

DUB->LHR->SFO->OGG then OGG->SFO->LHR->DUB

Not much availability on any other carriers for this route at the min so looks like UA it is.

1. Is the new OGG route still valid?

OGG/KOA/LIH are still considered Zone 11.
