you can try LJU-FRA-JFK-XXX, to maximize your F experience. SFO, LAX or MIA should be good experience.

Any thoughts on the validity of the following DC award Zone 5-6;
DXB-IST-JNB/CPT Thanks. |
Has anyone ever redeemed SIN-JNB-LHR all on SAA?

It's 7k miles compared to 4k miles the direct route. I think there are minimal chances for it, but unless you try you won't know.

I calculated direct theoretical route, 3970 miles. DXB-CAI-JNB is 5370 miles, while DXB-IST-JNB is 6390 miles (19% more). This route does not appear on standard *A routes, but unless you try 1-2 times you won't know the real answer. There have been stranger routes accepted :)

Routing
In my experience the ICC is quite accepting about routes and availability when there is no direct option.
I have ticketed IKA - IST - DAR // NBO - JNB - WDH on the one Z5-Z6 redemption so I suggest just calling and listing the flights. Good luck! |
Thanks chaps. Will do.

Hi there,
I am really new to this so please bear with me, and my knowledge of airport codes is minimal but growing. basically, family of four going to US this summer, would like to go NYC first then on to LAX. Whilst on the east coast would like to visit washington DC and Niagara (BUF/Toronto) before on to west coast. Were really flexible on dates, and I can see availability. Was going to book 4 singles on way out with DC, but wondered how far I can stretch my journey on one award booking and either use other FF clubs for connecting flights or pay for them. Can I aslo fly MAN to LHR as part of one award flight to save me driving all the way to London? Any suggestions on route? Is just one stop over in US allowed? many thanks |

J with miles + cash is the best deal in most peoples view, the cost is only 1.5 times that of economy. Yes 1 stop over on a single journey is allowed, but one stop of less than 24 hours may also be allowed. You may want to look at USair as they don't charge YQ(fuel surcharge) and this will make a big difference. There are direct USair flights MAN to Philadelphia. Amtrak are very convenient to DC and NYC from Philly. Also Jetblue are a lowcost fly option. CO also fly from Man to Newark although availability might be difficult, their J product on flat bed is very good in my experience. Don't forget you don't have to transit LHR, you could try MAN-BRU-EWR-LAX or MAN-FRA-JFK/EWR-LAX for example or the same but via YYZ(Toronto) with AC another good C product. happy hunting with the ANA tool! |
Welcome to the forum!
If you want to fly direct from the UK to the US in business class don't forget UK Air Passenger Duty (APD) is £120 per person - for a family of four that'll be £480! If you can find a cheap flight to somewhere like DUB (Dublin) and start your redemption from there then you'll be saving quite a bit of money (you may have to factor in the additional cost of staying overnight in a hotel if necessary). CO has non-stop flights from DUB-EWR (Newark, New Jersey) with the added benefit of US immigration pre-clearance in DUB. |
Thanks Yorkie Flyer and Strawb, I wish I could fly J but just have enough for four singles (97k).
This has opened up a whole new world of options for me, and will certainly keep me busy for a while! Do I look at each route seperately on ANA then ring up DC with final choice? |
How about flying MAN-EWR, stopover, and then taking the Acela Express to Washington, then flying from WAS-BUF or YYZ (at separate cost) to visit Niagara before continuing onto LAX?
So basically open jaw one way redemption MAN-EWR/BUF(or YYZ)-LAX. Try and avoid LHR, Passenger Service Charge is high. |
Stretching it?
Hi All,
I just managed to book a one-way award trip SYD-BKK (stop over) BKK-LAX-LAS in business for 30.000 points + 200 pounds in cash. Now I'm looking at the return trip and since I was lucky getting in a stop over in Thailand on the way out I would like to see if I can stretch my return leg in First Class. This is the routing I'm considering: YYZ-JFK-FRA-BKK-SYD Is this doable? I know it might be a stretch and I might go over the mileage permitted, would like to get your thoughts on this. Thanks Per |
