I think it is bogus and that some agents are just using it as an excuse to prevent some routings....especially the more complex sounding ones.
MPM has been mentioned on some of my recent calls (Feb 11) but has not been a reason to reject my routings. My advice to anyone who gets rejected is to insist on being told what the rules are and under what conditions the route has been rejected. |
+1. I think that some of the ICC agents throw MPM around without even knowing what exactly it means and what the rules would be if applied. That routing in question going via ORD & AMS to CPH definitely does not violate any MPM rules I'm aware of.

KTM-BKK-CDG-XXX(Z1)-LON possible?
This one is perplexing me and I'd be grateful for some thoughts!
I'm thinking of a redemption from KTM-BKK-CDG to sample TG's 77W on this route (I do also want to go to KTM for a week or so) but also need to return to LON. I could do this on a seperate (non redemption) flight or come back via Eurostar. If I did not have any stopovers in Z1 is there any way I can return to LON on the same redemption, expecially as there are no direct *A flights from PAR to LON? i.e. is KTM-BKK-CDG-XXX-LON allowable as a Z10-Z1 redemption? |

If I was after the CDG flight in particular, I'd do that and sort out a separate ticket on Eurostar, or a cheap flight to London on a separate ticket. |

Different circumstances there as FRA is a major hub within Star Alliance and therefore it would be reasonable to transit via it. CDG isn't and therefore it would be hard to argue that it would be a reasonable routing to get to LON when there are direct flights from BKK-LHR with good availability. Even BKK-FRA-LON would be reasonable as a genuine hub, but CDG isn't.
Not to mention the extra YQ and airport taxes that are involved when transferring in Europe. You are looking at an easy £70 extra in YQ and taxes. Might be easier getting the Eurostar? |
thanks for the replies. There's no F availability on the BKK-LHR routes for our dates, so we will have to come back via another route.
It seems from above that KTM-BKK-FRA-LON would be ok as FRA is a hub, but what about MUC? ie. KTM-BKK-MUC-LCY I may change tack and go for TG F in the 744, not as good as the 77w, but I think I'd like to spend a night/day c23hrs in MUC, knowing that my connection was protected plus there's redemption availability to LCY and my other half loves to use it given it's about 40 mins door to door! |

Trying to plot a route that will get us onto TG F.
WOuld the following route be allowed, as we plan to visit Seoul. ZRH-BKK, stopover in BKK, followed by BKK-HKG-ICN The reason being flying via HKG, is that we want to try the 1st class lounge in BKK, and the direct ICN flights dont seem to have F on board. The HKG-ICN sector can be in J, not fussed. Would the above route be allowed as a single Z1-Z8 redemption? |
