Had one briefly in Miami.

Gave it back.

Didn't understand the two gear box levers!!

Couldn't find the internal lights to actually see what was going on.

So I gave up as of course nobody to ask for help.

Yup, and I hate them. They drive like a school bus. I'll avoid them at all costs. Can't comment on HI locations, but scattered across the US, I've seen both 2WD & 4WD.

The bottom/left one is the actual gear shifter. The smaller, top/right one is the 2WD/4WD shifter. But good decision to give it back!

The only Volvo I've seen in 2 years was recently an XC40 (no clue on the class). The rare Infiniti is now a specialty car. Haven't seen any Lincoln sedans in forever; only the rare SUV and the class is unknown. I think the only real vehicle Avis considers Lux these days is the 300, unfortunately.

Also what would be determined to be the best option if there's a choice ie best to worse from the list?

What do you plan to do with the vehicle? Drive around the LV area and park in hotel and resort parking lots? Go off-road and explore mountains and deserts? Take long distance drives to PHX and LAX? How many people will it need to accommodate with how much luggage? Are you concerned about gas mileage?

Im driving from Vegas to Yellowstone via Grand Canyon, Moab etc, 2 people plus luggage.. Not overly concerned about gas mileage but not something that drinks a lot.

Not really savvy anymore on what's a good car in the US, so if im given a choice be good to know what to pick or not on models and variants...

So any help & advice appreciated.

The list is outdated and there's no guarantee you would get something from a correct list. My vote would be something that has AWD or RWD.

I should have guessed the list would be out of date, any ideas on what they do have, a rough idea is good enough and maybe what cars to avoid?

AWD would be great.

Best guess is a Nissan Maxima, Toyota Avalon, or VW Passat. The Maxima is fast but FWD only so it's a sloppy torque-steering mess. The Passat is fine but boring.

It's really impossible to guess because of the rental car shortage. They will probably just give you a small SUV.

Question re Group K Convertible (at LAX).

Is it just the Mustang and Camaro they have on fleet, and are these just base models? (i.e EcoBoost mustang etc...)

Yes. They do have GTs/SSes (respectively) available but those are an upgrade from the base group model.

Thanks. So would they only be available as a paid upgrade on the day, or am I likely to get upgraded into one as PC?
