Avis Preferred Plus
Class F or below
SEA

What can I expect? Hertz PC/National EE would be nice but on a corporate rate for Avis it is significantly cheaper.

Premium usually theres no upgrades unless your Preferred Plus, and it's usually with a cost.

Varies from $20-$50 per day to be honest, unless you get lucky with your car assignment or in the app when you select your vehicle.

You could always book the reservation for like next morning at 6:00am/6:30am and tell them your returning it, and ask for it with no upgrade cost (make sure your specific, go see the lot and take a pic of the vehicle with the plate and stall number) and then extend it on the app once you leave. No foul play if they give you a 'free' upgrade.

I don't get this strategy.

they wouldnt be losing a car if it's a short rental, so typically they would give it free.

The strategy mentioned is booking the car for a short period and hoping for a better car. Once you're off the lot, calling to extend it. The problem is that the rate can change and be drastically different than original.

I'd not say it's "typical" that they will give a better upgrade for free. It's more likely that they will give it for free or a lower fee, but far from "typically free".

The poster is trying to get a specialty car on a premium reservation. That's often a stretch even as a Chairman so I wouldn't count on it, no matter the rental length.

Your Avis status: PC
Car type/class reserved: Mercedes E350
Location: SFO
Dates or General timing: Sat morning for 2 days

I wonder which model is in the same group? And any idea on the model year of the E350?
By the way, does Avis care about the country of residence in profile (i.e. I must use a passport issued by the same country)? My account was opened in UK but there is no way for me to change it.

Thank you.
