Theoretically could one buy 1k miles at "retail" price and then trade back and forth between accounts to generate unlimited miles @ 1.7c?

For housekeeping and archive purposes, we'll merge the posts from today with the legacy thread on the subject.

I have 1500 in account A and 500 in account B. What is the maximum miles I can end up with using this promo in any one account and at what cost?

I think you could keep generating at $17/1000 miles up to the 150k annual limit.

So US residents have to pay tax on these while the rest of the world does not?

Not really... seems like a bit of a mix-up. LM has announced that they will be charging more for miles from September. Seems like the e-mail already uses that new rate bit the website is still charging the old rates.....

Mmm

In the email I received, under the 'Terms and Conditions' it states
Transfer fee for each block of 1,000 LifeMiles: USD17.70 including local taxes*.

And

*The price can be less depending on the country of residence that the member has registered in our data base.
So my email uses the old/current rate

Also, can you provide a link to the announcement of the new rate from September? (I was unaware of it)

Terms say new rate, web site charges old rate.

There's no announcement, they mentioned it in the previous 2x1 promo.

I received an e-mail from LM on 05/27 for the 2x1 promo that contained:

Don’t miss this opportunity, because starting October 1st, 2014 the cost of each package of 1,000 miles will raise to USD33 plus taxes1.
