swine flu and eze

arrived Thursday am 14th and before deplaning DL 101 we had to fill out nelotw medical forms and wear surgical masks as we exited the plane. Seems the Argentinian govt afraid we Americans will be bringing in lots of Swine flu.....Poor DL FAs had no idea ow we were to fill out the long extra forms required so it was chaotic for them.....
all you recent arrivals at EZE.....are they still doing this?

Dede, I think those forms will be around for all North America & Mexico flights for quite some time.

Had I known I would need it again I would have kept my Louis Vuitton mask from the SARS days....:D

Who needs the hard booze if you can have Malbec....?

And how good the Malbec was. We had two bottles a day, one with lunch and dinner. It went so well with every great meal. We really enjoyed your city and thanks for all the great tips you post. It's very much appreciated.

I can't speak for jrehfeldt, but both EZE and the Malbecs were great for me . :p

As a quick follow-up to the questions I posted prior to my trip, my transfer from AEP to EZE went very smoothly. The LAN flight from IGR was on time, and ~40 mins after picking up our bags from AEP baggage claim, we were at the AA check-in desk at EZE.

Thanks to everyone for the advice (especially Gaucho100K who was as helpful and hospitable in person as he is on FT!). We had a fabulous (first) trip to Argentina. ^ Now to plan our return!

BA apartment rentals

Hi Gaucho100K, I'm relatively new to posting on the forum. I'm hoping you will be able to give me some advice about renting an apartment at BA. We will be travelling to Argentina in Nov. Will be staying at BA for 4 nights (2 couples; 1 single)

Have you heard of Friendly Rentals?

For apartment rentals in Buenos Aires contact Friendly Rentals at
Phone (+005411) 4831 6155 /(+0054911) 6913 4081 Fax (+005411) 4552 8233. Honduras 4861 Timbre 5 Palermo - Buenos Aires (Argentina).

Is there any other reputable apartment rental companies that would rent for less than a week?

We would like to stay at a safe neighborhood , yet have a lot of actions around (ie - restaurant, shopping, entertainment etc) Is Recoleta a good choice?

thanks for your help

QQ, I'm not familiar with them, I've used www.reynoldspropiedades.com several times over the years and had good luck. They have some staff who speak English well, they are friendly and try to be helpful. Others have criticized them for being too expensive.

You'll be expected to make a deposit before you come down, probably with Paypal or a credit card. You'll be expected to bring cash for the rest of the rent and the deposit, bring hundred dollar bills. Typically you meet the agent and landlord at the property and hand the cash to the landlord after inspecting the apartment. If you notice damage to anything make sure the agent documents it, they've always been very thorough with me.

Protip: to avoid any issues with unscrupulous landlords photograph the bills or manually write down all of the serial numbers. Some people try to trick you into thinking that you brought counterfeit bills with you when in fact they switched bills while you weren't looking. When you pay cabs or anyone els with large bills memorize the last few digits before handing it over for the same reason.
