As we deplaned you hand the form to a health ministry employee and then walk past an infrared camera. People with high temperatures would be pulled aside for further discussion.

Its possible that they've stopped these procedures, but I don't know that they have. I asked at EZE Saturday when I left for Seattle but the AA folks were not sure.

Last September they had discontinued having passengers wear a face mask upon deplaning, and only the health declaration form had to be filled out. None of the airport personnel were wearing face masks either, and thermal screening had been discontinued.

Arriving back at EZE last week there were no controls whatsoever - no masks, no questionnaire to fill out and no thermal imaging cameras. It looks like normality has returned!

Oh, the pharmaceutical companies won't be happy with that. Wonder what the next mass epidemic will be?

Hello friends, looking for some advice on how to make a short 7 days in Argentina wonderful. It's just my wife and myself (no kids yet, but probably last trip before we have).

Arrive EZE on 12/22 @ 8AM
Depart EZE on 12/29 @ 10PM

I hear aside from Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls is a must. Would my fellow FTers recommend an itinerary? Iguazu at the start of the trip or end and is 1 night & day sufficient? Would it be possible to visit Mendoza for 1 night, too? I don't want to pack the trip in, but we both love red wine.

Thoughts?

If you are into Wine then Mendoza is a must... one night will be tight, if you have 7 days I would say do 2 nights in Mendoza and if you want do 1 night in Iguazu... the rest in Buenos Aires should round off a great trip.

7 Days is enough to do both trips.

You can fly to Iguazu on an 11:00AM flight (plus or minus 90 minutes) and return the next day on an afternoon flight and still give yourself plenty of time to see everything in the park. My friends actually flew into BA and went straight from EZE to Jorge Newbery to catch a flight to Iguazu.

I definitely agree with Gaucho on Mendoza... you would probably need 2 nights to give yourself at least 1 full day at the wineries.

Thanks bizco and Gaucho100K! With those locations in mind, how you would recommend I plan to break the trip up?

12/22 Arrive 8AM EZE. Depart 11AM IGU
12/23 Iguazu Depart 4PM IGU. Arrive 6PM EZE
12/24 Buenos Aires
12/25 Buenos Aires
12/26 Buenos Aires
12/27 Depart 6PM EZE. Arrive 7PM MDZ
12/28 Mendoza
12/29 Depart 9AM MDZ. Arrive 12PM EZE. Depart 10PM EZE

one day only in Mendoza is not enough if you are half serious about visiting wineries.....

shah1md Oct 16, 2009 11:42 am

What if I took the earliest flight out for Mendoza, that should give us a full day, especially if we can find a great tour guide.

12/22 Arrive 8AM EZE. Depart 11AM IGU
12/23 Iguazu Depart 4PM IGU. Arrive 6PM EZE
12/24 Buenos Aires
12/25 Buenos Aires
12/26 Buenos Aires
12/27 Depart 7AM EZE. Arrive 8AM - Full day in Mendoza
12/28 Mendoza
12/29 Depart 9AM MDZ. Arrive 12PM EZE. Depart 10PM EZE

This would give us:
1.5 days in Iguazu
3.5 days in Buenos Aires
2 days in Mendoza

Any tips on a TA or Guide?

Sorry, if you are wine connoisseurs then you would, of course, want more than a day in Mendoza. But if you're only in the country for 7 days and are a casual fan of red wines (like me), then I think 1 full day would be enough.

As a disclaimer, I didn't do any planning for our trip to Mendoza, so the bodegas we went to were very random. In hindsight, I probably should've planned.

Well there have been some spectacular deals this year to EZE. Some coach tickets under $200, if I recall right. However, these are not the norm at all. You'd really need to keep on the deals here, and hope that something else pops up. Normally $400-$600 is the cheapest RT ex USA, but depends greatly on the departing city. California, Florida and NYC usually have the cheapest fares.

rvca661, it would help if you edited your profile to indicate which area/airport you are closest to. Often the fare sales are specific to certain routes ...
